Mom’s Roast and Shoes?

Well I realize the post title sounds kind of weird and NO, Mom’s roast does not remind me of shoe leather. Actually quite the opposite. But I felt like I couldn’t just leave you with a recipe today so I’m also sharing these adorable peep toe booties I found on the Nordstrom site yesterday and they’re on SALE.

Lucky Peep Toe Booties

These are made by the same makers as my perforated booties that I’ve about worn to death since last fall. Mine are so comfy. I love the grommet detail on these. I first noticed it on this pair of booties a few months ago and fell in love.

Now back to Mom’s Roast.

Comfort food. When I hear the words Crock Pot that’s what comes to mind. Today I’m linking up with my friend Allie for Ladies Who Link and sharing our go to Crock Pot recipes.

I didn’t own a Crock Pot until about 8 or 9 years ago. Can you believe that? The first recipe I used it for was my mom’s pot roast. She always made it in the oven and that’s probably why I never had a Crock Pot. She didn’t use or even own one herself when I was growing up.

I’ve seen recipes similar to her roast recipe, but none that are as good. I’ve shared it with several friends and now it’s their go to roast recipe as well.  I’m actually not a big fan of roast and but after making it for my family several times it started to grow on me. The key to hers is Golden Mushroom soup. I’ve seen some that call for regular old Cream of Mushroom and no offense to it,  but the Golden Mushroom does something special that the other just can’t do.

This is a super easy recipe, making it a pretty easy dinner as well. Like they say…fix it and forget it.

I think you could figure this out without directions but I will give the recipe at the bottom of the post.

Crock Pot liners aka slow cooker liners are in my humble opinion pure genius! I wouldn’t even bother using my crock pot if it weren’t for these babies. If you are averse to cooking with a plastic liner you obviously don’t have to use them, but I love them.

Mom’s Pot Roast

2-4 pound roast of your choice

2 cans Golden Mushroom Soup

2 envelopes onion soup mix

Combine both cans of soup with both envelopes of onion soup mix and pour over meat.

Do not dilute.

Cook on low 6-8 hours adding baby carrots or peeled carrots cut up for last 2 hours.

Serve with your family’s favorite mashed potatoes.

EASY

Tomorrow I’m pulling out my Crock Pot to make one of our favorite Pinterest recipes.

Cafe Rio Chicken

We use this delicious chicken in burrito bowls. Once I found this recipe we kind of quit going to Chipotle. It’s so delicious.

I like to use my Crock Pot for baked beans and oatmeal too.

What are your favorite Crock Pot recipes? Feel free to share in the comments.

Have a great day friends,

Lisa

  • Yum! I love pot roast! And yes, Crock-pot liners are in the top 10 of greatest inventions!

  • I've never heard of Golden Mushroom soup. I'll have to try it out instead of Cream of Mushroom. I use my crock pot all the time, and I don't really remember my Mom using one. I know everybody loves those liners, but they make me nervous!

    • This is the only recipe I’ve ever seen that uses the Golden Mushroom, but she’s used it as long as I can remember. I seriously LOVE the liners, but I get being nervous.

Hope you’re having a good weekend!

  • My crock pot is such a lifesaver, especially since the liners came out. Before that I hated trying to scrub it clean but now it's such a treat! I'm always on the hunt for a good roast recipe so I am definitely trying this one, thanks!

    • I know Kellyann. Before the liners I hated using it because they're kind of a pain to clean. Hope you like it when you try it! Have a great week!
