Beach Vacation Essentials

Ask me my idea of the perfect vacation and my answer will always be the beach.

The warm sun on my skin, a breeze blowing with the sound of the ocean in the background…this is what I call paradise.

It’s been a couple of years since we’ve been on a beach vacation but next month that is going to change. We are headed for a week of fun in the sun and sand.

I may be partial being a native East Coast girl, but the Atlantic beaches and beaches on the Gulf are some of the best. Give me a beach in Florida or one of the Carolinas any day. White sand, gorgeous warm water and of course plenty of beautiful vacation homes to enjoy time with your family. What more could you ask for?

Whenever we are planning a beach trip there are always things I want to remember to bring with me. Beach essentials. So today I’m going to share the “must haves” when I’m planning a sandy get away.

*I like to start with a great beach bag or tote.  One large enough to hold all the things I want with me once I get to the sand.

*A pretty cover up is great for throwing on to make a run for something cool to drink or grabbing some lunch at a boardwalk restaurant.

*The sand and concrete can be really hot, so I like to wear a cute pair of flip flops to protect my feet.

*While I love the sun and love to spend all day in it, the older I’ve gotten the more I’ve come to realize that sunscreen is an absolute must. Long gone are the days of slathering on baby oil and lying on blacktop to try and achieve that golden tan. Protecting my skin is priority number one.

*Sun protection for your lips is equally as important.

*You’ll find books and magazines in my bag. The only time I truly enjoy reading is when I’m in the sun.

*My cell phone goes everywhere and a little bluetooth speaker is a great thing to throw in your bag if you like to listen to your favorite playlist while your sunning yourself.

*I don’t know what it is about being in the sun, but it seems to make me want to snack so I like to keep some easy to carry snacks in my bag.

*Being out in the sun it’s important to stay hydrated and an insulated water bottle to keep your water nice and cold is a great thing to throw in your bag.

*Keeping the sun out of your eyes and off your face means bringing your favorite sunnies and a great hat with a wide brim.

*And of course you wouldn’t think of going to the beach without a great towel.

Do yo have a checklist of things to bring so you don’t get down to the beach and realize you forgot something? I hate it when that happens.

What are your beach essentials?

Lisa

  • Your beach bag essentials are spot on! I will go to the beach with you any day. ;) And that Bluetooth speaker is genius. I need to get one of those for this Summer.

  • Thanks for listing lip protection! I had malignant melanoma removed from my lips as a teenager and have been pretty diligent since! I have heard about packing baby powder to help get sand off your body- haven't tried it yet. We love our bluetooth speaker- wish I was hitting the beach this summer!

    • Oh yuck! Bless your heart. I try really hard to keep the sun off my face and am so much better about sunscreen than when I was younger.
