Friday Favorites #74

Well hello Friday! I’m so happy to see you. For a four day week you were a little slow getting here even with everything I had to get done. Let’s get to Friday Favorites and do some linking up with my friends in blogland.

Kent and I came home on Monday and everything was smooth as silk. Considering my travel history the last month this is a major coup. Hopefully the spell has been broken, the curse lifted or whatever.

Getting our toes done is always a favorite. This was the biggest nail salon I’d ever seen. You could feasibly have 32 women getting a pedicure at the same time and another 18 getting nails done Yes, I was counting all the chairs while my feet were soaking…LOL and why does my necklace always seem to hug my boob like that? #keepingitrealhere

Don’t Katie’s nails look pretty? But that’s not what this picture is really about. We finally got this ring sized for her. This is my original engagement ring setting. Over the past 10 years we’ve done some “tweaking” and upgrading to my ring using my original diamond. When we had it taken out of the ring we had her birthstone (which is also mine) put in and put it away for when she was older. We gave it to her on her 18th birthday which was almost 2 years ago. She’d been asking to have it sized so we finally got around to it. She’s tickled pink with it.

Donuts are always going to be a favorite. We went to a Nashville hot spot called Five Daughters Bakery and got a couple to share. Coconut meringue and chocolate. They have a little filling in them and are what I’d call more of a cronut. Lots of yummy layers.

Friends that are family will always be a favorite. God blessed us beyond measure when he crossed our paths with the Harris family. We’ve had a friendship that has lasted 20 years and thousands of miles. Our kids were in a playgroup together and Elizabeth and I are now dreaming of the day when we live in Nashville and our grand-babies can play together. Won’t we have so much fun?!?!

My dress is on super sale and I love it!

We got to meet Erin’s mom over the weekend and spend time getting to know her. She’s a super sweet lady and I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of her. ?? And P.S. I’m so happy I went ahead and finally got those sandals. I wear them all.the.time. and I’m afraid Katie may try to wear her Birkenstocks under her wedding dress whenever that day rolls around. (many years from now)

Benny had been wanting Kent’s old bike and we finally were able to get it to him when we had Katie’s car shipped to Nashville. Kent took it apart and put it in the trunk. It’s pretty cool to see him driving around with a bike older than he is on the back of his car.

Looking up and seeing these two crossing the street together makes my mama heart smile. They weren’t such good buddies as kids. Actually Benny could barely tolerate Katie, but now that they’ve spent a year together at the same school and are living in the same town they developed the sweetest friendship. This is something I’ve always longed for for them. My brother and I have a special relationship and I want that for these two. They are great sounding boards for each other and support. YASSSS!!!!

Whew, that was a long list. I guess you could say it was a good week. Texas continues to be our prayers and we’ve now added Florida. Be safe friends and head for higher ground. Kellyann, this means YOU!

Have a great weekend!

  • So so much goodness this Friday! What a sweet story about the ring you gave Katie! You guys and the Harris family just look so so beautiful together, a friendship meant to be! That is the cutest little bakery and I bet a donut in there is calling my name, LOL! I hope you have a peaceful and relaxing weekend beautiful lady!

    • Thanks Andrea!!! I'll let you in a secret...the donuts were just okay. I'd had a lemon that Katie brought over from there before that was much better, but they didn't have any this time. It's still a super cute place and you've got to do when in town. I'm just hoping she doesn't lose that ring?. I'd be so sad, but it's hers now so I'll just hope for the best. (gosh, I sound like a real downer...sorry about that?) Enjoy your weekend too!!! XOXO

    • OH MY GOODNESS...I've heard everything is bigger in Texas, but that's just crazy!!! You'd think we'd have something like that out here, but I haven't seen anything that can even touch the one in Nashville, so there's no way it could beat that. Happy Weekend!!!

    • I'm glad it's not just me...and I was a little hesitant to put that in there. I'm sure my mom is totally rolling her eyes at me...hahaha!!

  • I sure hope my son and daughter form a strong relationship someday, too! They are always fighting! I remember once my older brother started to drive, we got along a lot better! lol! ;) Those desserts from Five Daughters Bakery look OH so good!

    • I bet they will Carrie. I've decided it just takes time. I wasn't sure it would ever happen for those 2 of mine. Katie adores his girlfriend too and they have a super sweet friendship which is such a blessing as well. Benny loves that the 2 of them are so close. Happy Weekend!

  • Well aren't you just the sweetest mentioning me and wishing me all the best!!! I'll tell ya what, I am blessed to know you friend!
You know what's funny? Just last weekend I had a pedicure with a friend in a huge salon and I was counting the chairs too thinking "whoa!" like really - you could host a party in that place! And all bajillion ladies there were relaxing and enjoying their spa like experience until I knocked over a metal tray and the whole place practically jumped out of their skin! Just call me grace.
That ring is beautiful and I'm sure Katie is going to take great care of it! Although I don't know her I feel like she is responsible and knows how much it means.
I am praying my two boys get closer - I'm hoping Collin will be at UF with Nolan next year and that away from us they'll bond. #momprayers
Alright my darling friend, here's to the weekend and a safe one at that!
    xo,

    • That's a blessing for both of us...no doubt! We've got the TV on watching all this coverage. I've joked saying maybe we should retire in FL instead of TN since I'm such a summer lover, but I just told Kent I think I've reconsidered? These huge nail salons baffle me. They can't possibly have enough man power to actually do that many people at once. Seriously? I bet your sweet boys will get closer. It's definitely a mama's prayer her birdies will be close. Hope you are safe a cozy this morning my friend. Continuing to pray for you and your fellow Floridians❤️

  • Yay for getting your nails done!! I got mine done while I was on vacation and I could not believe how huge the nail salon was!! That's so cool that Katie has your original engagement ring setting! My mom doesn't wear jewelry (also, my parents are divorced), so I've inherited various pieces from her over the years, but not the engagement ring yet. I think she also put that away until I was/am a certain age!

    • Hi Jess!!! Hope you have a great weekend sweet girl. You know, I'm not really sure why these nail salons are so huge? They can't possibly have enough people working there to do that many people at once?

  • Happy weekend lady ! great looking manicure :) That ring and the story behind it has me.... super sweet ! I love your dress by the way, I'm still looking for my mother of the bride dress and hope to purchase it by the end of next week. Have a fabulous day !

    • Happy Weekend to you to Tammy!!! Hope you find a dress you love and feel great in. I'm sure it will be beautiful!! XOXO

    • Thanks Laura! And I love a good donut...even though I don't splurge on them very often. Hope you're having a great weekend! XO

  • The donuts look amazing! I wish I could find a good local donut place where I live (although, maybe it's better that I can't find one!)

    • I'm glad I haven't found a great one where I live either...it'd be bad for my waistline for sure...LOL Have a great week!
