Nordstrom try on session

Hey there and Happy Valentine’s Day week and Happy Monday! That’s a whole lot of  happy. How was your weekend? Mine went by much too quickly.

I could use another 3 day weekend. I think the winter doldrums really hit hard after New Years. From September on there’s at least one day of celebration in each month and now during the months following the holidays we have a long stint with no notable holidays. There’s Easter and spring break for people with kids, but the next big day off for everyone is Memorial Day. So now we’re in a little holiday slump.

Are you a big Olympic fan? We aren’t, but we do have it on from time to time. I think you are either obsessed or pretty indifferent. #iguesswereindifferent

I ran in Nordstrom the other day and tried on a few spring things. I must have been feeling the beach because I was drawn to “beachy” feeling clothes this day. I kinda hate to say this because I know so many of you are still in the dead of winter, but last week it was in the mid 70’s here almost everyday and it.was.heaven!

So here’s what I’m seeing in a big way for spring. The color coral (which I love) looks like it’s going to be prevalent along with what I’d call bright pastels. Think aqua, periwinkle and yellow. Bows and peplums along with bell sleeves are popular and as much as some people are ready to be done with off the shoulder and cold shoulder, I think we’re still going to be seeing them a fair amount.

bow back sweater

This sweater is a cute example of bows. I think you could say it falls into the same category as a mullet…LOL Business in the front, party in the back.

camo cardi

I almost forgot to try this fun sweater on so I had to throw it on over my sweater. I love the camo with pink in it. Fun and girly all at the same time. This one runs large (even over a sweater) though and I should have tried on the x-small.

tunic sweater / jeans
Yep, I might have a love affair with coral this spring. How cute is this tunic sweater? It looks cute with these embroidered jeans or my dark distressed jeans I was wearing and would be darling with white jeans. It’s begging to be worn out for an evening of mini golf and ice cream on a trip to the beach.

tee / jeans

If you are in need of a cute tee with a little more personality, this one will fit the bill. I think it has the sweetest sleeves and a little more generous cut around the bottom that makes it hang well.

sweater

And in an effort to get you dreaming about your summer vacation here are a couple more sweaters  that will be perfect for a trip to the beach or island.

sweater  / jeans

This one is super versatile. You can wear it off the shoulder, as a cowl or if you’re feeling a little sassy just let one shoulder say peek-a-boo. Paired with the white embroidered jeans from one of my favorite makers, Wit and Wisdom, you are set!

ribbed cardi

Okay friends. Not gonna’ lie. ⬆️This one is GOOD! ⬆️It’s super soft. I’m talking like never want to take it off soft. I had a hard time not walking out with it on and I can’t promise it won’t eventually come to my house to live. If you don’t have a ⬇️long gray cardi ⬇️yet, this is the one you want.

striped cardi

And before we quit thinking about cardigans {which are obviously bringing their A-game} take a look at this striped version. This one is a linen feel and light enough to wear into summer. I’ve seen so many bloggers and girls on Instagram wearing similar sweaters and they are so cute. I’m always drawn to them.

pleated peplum sweater

Y’all know I really think something is cute when I take it into the dressing room in two colors. It means I’m feeling conflicted and sharing the love. The sweet little pleated peplum on this sweater could be paired with almost anything. A pencil skirt, jeans, white jeans, or shorts.

Whew! There you have it. What do you think? Now are you ready to head someplace warm and relax? I am. How about a girls weekend? Let’s go.

I’ll let y’all in on a secret. I tried on some dresses for my “mother of groom” role coming up. I need to get down to business and start really thinking about this. We FaceTimed with the love birds last night and they are just the cutest. What an exciting time!

Happy Monday friends and here’s to a great week!!!

  • So much cuteness I cannot stand it! You are going to get me in Shopping trouble as I just added several of these to my bag and coral is one of my favorite colors! And that pleated Peplum, sooo cute! Does the coral hooded sweater run big? I heard it does. Love you, hope this Comment works!

    • Good morning cutie! Yay for the comments working. I love me some coral too. Yes, I think it does run a little big. I think you could probably go down to an xs. I have on a small, but I need it through my backside. I think you are a little more trim in that dept than me?. Lucky girl. Happy Monday friend!! Love ya' back!!! XOXO

  • Loved that socialite tee...I tried the same color on and it is definitely coming home with me eventually! I hope you snagged the aqua sweater..so cute on you!!

  • Seriously cute stuff here my friend. You look great in that OTS sweater - I love that it can be worn as a cowl neck too. I ordered a similar one over the weekend from H&M. We play this little game where I order a bunch of their junk for Nolan and then I don't buy anything for several months. Then they come crawling back to me like a jilted lover offering 40% off and free shipping! I take the bait and buy something, in this case a beautiful OTS pink sweater that was practically free!
But back to you, those embroidered jeans are super cute and remind of the Target ones - did you end up getting the ones from Target? I hope you bought that coral colored tunic because that color is terrific on you!!!
I am so excited you started trying on dresses!!! May will be here before you know it my friend, chop, chop!
    love ya girlie!
    xo,
    Kellyann

    • Hey chica! Thank you! I should look at H&M online. I see people finding cute stuff but whenever I walk in I never find anything. Once again you crack me up with your jilted lover offering! I got the jeans from Target but returned them. I think they are so cute on you, but I felt goofy. I think this pair is cute too, but I don't know if I like them enough to buy them. The white ones are sweet too and I love Wit and Wisdom. Hope you've had a great Monday!!! XOXO

  • The peplums are so cute but maybe a bit short for my hips and bottom, but oh those ribbed cardis! Love the shoulder detail. It looks a pretty lavender on you but the Nordstrom site calls it a denim blue. What would you say it is IRL, pray tell? Happy Valentine's day to you and the lovely Kent, hugs x

    • Thank you Mary! Peplums are hard when you are short waisted like we are. I think those would look better on someone a little taller than myself, but I do love them. So the ribbed cardi. I'd call it a periwinkle or cornflower blue. It's a gorgeous color and your assessment of it being a lavender isn't far off. Hope your Monday is off to a wonderful start!! XOXO

  • Great picks, Lisa! I love them all. If I had known we were going to have the coldest winter in Texas history (not really, but almost), I think I would have bought more sweaters in the fall. Usually we are hitting 75 or 80 all winter, but not this year! I love this style post...do more of them! :)

    • Thanks Tanya! And thanks for saying you like this style post...I always wonder?how people feel. Happy Monday!! XO

  • I'm such a Nordstrom addict and seeing these doesn't help my addiction. I have a package coming right now and I do believe it's a top you blogged about last week. Love the coral color on you. Have a great Valentine's Day!

    • LOL Lea! You are in good company. I order (and take back) Kent is just sure my picture is hanging somewhere with a "lookout for this woman" warning under it. HA! Hope you're week started of sweet, just like you! XO
