Friday favorites #98

Hello Friday you beautiful thing! Whew! I am so happy it’s finally Friday. I’m ready for the weekend. {Even if we do lose an hour of sleep} ?I had a really busy week, which is great but I’m ready for a slow down AND…tomorrow our girl comes home. Bless her heart. She’s been sickly this week with what has presented as possibly kidney stones?  She hasn’t felt well at all and after turning to our friends Google and WebMD that’s the self diagnosis we came up with. It never got bad enough to go to the doctor, but was a nagging feeling. I think she was finally feeling a little relief yesterday. Anyway, I’ll be happy to have her home so if it continues we can see our doctor here. Having a sick “baby” two time zones away is no joke y’all.

I think we can call this the Friday Favorites that almost didn’t happen. I had bible study yesterday and then company for dinner which meant no time to blog, so this morning I’m bringing you a short and sweet post.

I’ve been meaning to share my first ipsy bag with y’all for weeks and now my second one is already on its way.

I tried the Sephora Play box for a couple of months (you can read about that here and here) and liked it okay but chose to stop receiving it. I decided to give ipsy Glam Bag a try and so far, so good.

This month I received 5 products which are all good, but here’s how I’d rate them:

1 item ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1 item ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1 item⭐️⭐️⭐️

2 items⭐️⭐️

Here’s what came in my “bag”

(note: the candle is just a prop?, I only wish it came with the bag. That would be awh-sum)

So honestly, I could care less about the little “bags” that come each month, but they’re part of it, so okay.

So let’s start with the ⭐️⭐️items.

The Pacifica Eye shadow and the Luna highlighter were ⭐️⭐️. Not because I dislike them or there is anything wrong with them. The eye shadow is made by a company that is 100% vegan and cruelty free, so if you are a fan of that you might want to check them out. The eyeshadow itself is good, (a little extra powdery) but since I don’t wear a lot of eye shadow, I was just eehhhh. I am liking playing around with the lavender shades since I have never worn them and that color is big for spring.

The Luna highlighter is nice, but since I have a highlighter I love it wasn’t as exciting. It will be good for throwing in my purse though.

Now for the  ⭐️⭐️⭐️product.

I gave the Klorane Dry Shampoo 3 ⭐️’s. I’m currently on the hunt for a good dry shampoo so I was really happy to try this. Here’s the thing about dry shampoo’s, I find it hard to figure out if they are working. I don’t have oily hair so that’s not an issue. I’m more interested in just freshening up the roots and making sure my hair isn’t stinky from working out. Up until the last couple of months I washed my hair pretty much every.single.day. I’m trying to cut back and give it a break and I’ve gone down to 2 or 3 washes a week. It’s also a huge time saver because I have a TON of hair.

Next I intend to try the Living Proof dry shampoo that everyone seems to love.

So here are this months favorites.

The liquid lipstick received ? – ⭐️’s.

I wasn’t at all familiar with the brand OFRA and honestly when I looked at the color I thought, “nope”. But I was pleasantly surprised and have been wearing it almost every day. It’s a great fall/winter color and lasts almost all day. It goes on darker than it appears in the picture.

And the big winner receiving ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Bye Bye under eye by it Cosmetics. First, I’ve been wanting to try something from it and second, this stuff is great! It’s a waterproof concealer, which I’d never even heard of. It’s thick (almost tacky feeling) and has high coverage. I don’t really need that much correction, but I just love the way the stuff goes on and seems to stay. I will tell you the first time I used it I wasn’t sure about it because it’s soooo thick and a little goes a long way, but it has totally won me over. I also like to use a concealer on my lips before applying lipstick to neutralize my lip color which seems to be wacky…lol. If I just apply a lipstick right on my lips with no primer the color is gosh awful.

Okay y’all, there you have it. The good, the bad and the ugly only mostly good. HA!

What are your favorite products? Monday I’m joining the girls from The Blended Blog to talk all about skincare, and y’all know I am passionate about my skincare.

  • Yay for one day till KT! Boo that she's been sickly. I have never had a kidney stone but I've heard they are extremely painful so bless her heart. I am so happy you can take care of her at home! Nolan is headed back tonight to our house and then leaves again Sunday to go back to school.
I am not familiar with Ipsy. I used to use that IT concealer - actually I used to use all of their products. I wasn't a fan because I am too heavy handed. But it has almost a cult following so I am glad you got to check it out.
Enjoy your Friday my friend and I know you're counting the hours till you get your hands on that precious girl of yours!
    xo,
    Kellyann

    • It’s awful when she feels bad and there’s nothing I can do for her. Thankfully this morning when we spoke she’s feeling somewhat better. She seemed much better as far as her outlook and attitude. Enjoy your time with Nolan this weekend. Is he coming home for the summer? Katie is staying in Nashville. I can’t blame her though. I did the same thing. Happy weekend!!! XOXO

      • He is staying Gainesville this Summer so that is going to be huge for me - I am already sad!

        • I feel your pain. Benny only came home for summer and now it looks like she's doing the same. It's hard to let them go, but part of growing up...for both of us?❤️

  • Never heard of a waterproof concealer either. Oh poor Katie, I have had 4 kidney stones and 2 surgeries for them, no joke. Have your dr. put her on a water pill, the lowest does, I have not had one, knock on wood for 11 years now because if it. Yep, one boy came home yesterday and I am happy, other is on his way to Florida..boo! You guys have a ball and a lovely reunion!!

    • Oh my, Andrea. That’s awful. I’ve heard they are very painful. Thankfully when I talked to her this morning she’s feeling some better. Thanks for the tip about the water pill. Enjoy having your sweet boy at home. One is better than none?, right? Have a great weekend sweet friend! XO

  • Some lovely goodies here, but poor Katie. She's going to be so relieved to be home and looked after by her super-caring Mum. Hope she gets it sorted out quickly, I've never had stones but have had renal colic and that was painful enough for me! Happy weekend my lovely, x.

    • Thanks Mary! Talked to her this morning and thankfully she’s improving. I’ll be glad to get her home. Have a wonderful weekend! XO

  • I hope Katie is ok and that it's nothing too serious! I know you'll be so happy to get her home and take care of her! It's so fun seeing what comes in the different subscription boxes! Grace got Ipsy for awhile, and now has switched to Sephora. It's a great gift for her, and we end up sharing the products. I like your star rating system! Have a great weekend! Hope your part of the country gives us good weather!

    • Thanks Tanya! Thankfully, she’s feeling much better today…finally. I sure hope y’all have good weather while you’re here too. We rarely get rain and I sure hope it doesn’t happen for y’all. Enjoy your time here. XOXO

  • I think I've seen some other reviews about Bye Bye under eye by it Cosmetics and they were all good ones. I think I'm going to pin a photo of it, so I can try it out after I finish up my current concealer that I'm just OK with. I have collected a lot of powder highlighters lately from past Ipsy boxes and my FabFitFun box sent me one recently. I really love Pixi's highlighter the most, so I'll be secretly glad when I use up all the others. LOL! So happy Katie will be back and you can help her get to a DR if she needs to go (but, it sounds like she's on the mend). I've never had kidney stones, but I knew someone once that got them so bad he was in the hospital for the pain! Eek! Not fun!

  • Well, know you were so glad when your daughter was safely home and when our kiddos are sick they need their Momma (no matter how old they are). :o)) Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    • They sure do Lea. We went to the dr Tuesday and he feels like maybe it’s muscular (pulled or something) but she just feels bad in general as well as the back pain. I’m hoping the culture they sent off will come back positive for a kidney infection so she can get some medicine. I really don’t want to send her back to school not feeling well. I sure love having her home.

  • Ouch to the (possible) kidney stones! Hope you all had some good time together despite that! And loved your honest product reviews! The under eye concealer sounds great! I've never found one that I liked so I might add that to my "to try" list.

    • Now we're thinking kidney infection but the dr. doesn't think so. Hopefully the culture they sent off will show positive so she can get some medicine and feel better. It's a high hiding concealer which I've never used, but I do really like it. Have a great day, Gina! XO

  • Hi Lisa!
I am sorry to hear your daughter has been sick! My hubby has had kidney stones and they are painful. He has had to wait sometimes for them to just pass. Hope she feels better soon. I have never tried a dry shampoo, and I am like you, feel like I need to wash my hair daily, but i have been trying every other day.. I have heard alot of great things about IT Cosmetics, I will have to give them a try! I have tried a couple of new products from Sephora lately by Becca cosmetics I love!
    Have a great week!

    • Thanks Jess.
The Bye Bye under eye is great…at least I think it is. The dry shampoo takes a little getting use to, but I sure like not having to wash every day.
Hope you are having a wonderful week.
      XOXO

  • Oh no, I hope Katie's feeling better! I'm sure she's as glad to be home with you as you are to have her home! Hope you two are enjoying your week! :D

  • Glad you got some fun stuff! I got the same eyeshadow but haven't had a chance to try it yet. A few bags back I got Oribe's Gold Lust dry shampoo and I love it, but I just looked up the price, and it's $44! Yikes! I hope you get some Seraphine products- their blush and lip colors are gorgeous- Ofra is great too. Now, you're not going to believe this, but I am actually going to end my subscription when my March bag arrives because I've gotten SO many products that I haven't gotten to play with yet and my makeup drawer is overflowing at the moment, so I will live vicariously through you and then restart in January.

    • I had to chuckle when you said you were going to end your subscription. I don’t know how long I’ll last either. I feel guilty getting all this stuff I don’t really need. Katie’s not much on makeup so she never wants any of it. This months bag was pretty lame for me. I got a lipstick that’s almost the exact color of the OFRA from last month, another eye shadow that’s gold, a makeup brush that’s the fan kind and looks like Aria would love an eyeliner (which I don’t use) and that Glossier stuff…which is kinda sticky. Complain, complain, complain. Sorry about that. I’ll try next month and see what happens. I updated my profile last month but I think I’ll take another look. Hope you’re having a great week!!! XO
