Happy hump day friends. Somebody please slooooow down the week. While a speedy week doesn’t usually bother me, this week I want every day to last just a little longer so we aren’t putting Katie right back on a plane. No thanks to for daylight savings time. HA!
I saw this Free People “dress” on the Nordstrom site recently and it was on sale, and you know how I feel about the word sale. Lisa + Sale = True Love Always. Anyway I ordered it, picked up in store, because I love being able to do that and brought it home. When I pulled it out I thought, “Seriously, this is a dress?”. Y’all know a lot of the Free People line is made for the younger gals and they like things kinda short. Well us older gals still like the fun clothes, but don’t necessarily want to advertise our personal business.
I thought about it for a few minutes and came up with this idea and loved it.
Even as short as I am (almost 5’3″), this was super short on me and I’d consider it more of a tunic than a dress. I added my favorite leggings, which if y’all have never tried the slimming leggings from Soma you are missing out. I’ve been wearing these for years. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Zella leggings for lounging and working out, but when I want to wear them in this capacity, I always reach for my Soma favorites. They have a really wide waistband that keeps everything tucked in and are a nice smooth stretchy material that’s not as cottony as the Zellas.
Black lace up sandals make for a perfect pairing and look great for a seasonal transition. My exact pair are sold out, but I’m linking some options at the bottom.
I couldn’t decide which clutch I liked better so I opted to show you both and they look equally cute in MHO. The leopard adds some fun and the black is great for a more conservative choice, although there’s not much I’d consider conservative when it comes to the colors and print of this tunic.
The last thing to add was a fun necklace and some earrings. I am absolutely crazy for my new necklace I scored during a recent BaubleBar sale. It adds a great pop of gold without competing with the print on the tunic. I also chose one of my favorite pairs of Kendra Scott earrings.
The sleeves are so long on this. What do y’all think? Too long? (the tags are still in it because I just wanted to share it with y’all) but I’m still trying to decide if I should keep it.

The color looks great on you. Thanks for showing how we can wear short dresses!
Thanks you! Thank heavens for leggings!! Have a great day! XO
Thanks so much. Leggings are a girls best friend after a certain age (when worn appropriately…LOL XO
Wow!!!! That color is so good on you my friend, just beautiful! I love the necklace with it and you know my vote is for the leopard clutch. It's crazy to think anyone would wear this as a dress but I guess those young girls...hmmmmm. Anyhow this is super pretty on you. I really love your KS earrings too -they look great with the necklace.
Happy Hump Day - yes, the week goes by so fast when our babies are home. I know you're soaking up every minute!
xo,
Kellyann
Well thank you! It is one of my colors, but for some reason I rarely wear it. I like it, but Kent thinks it’s too busy. I might still keep it though. That’s one thing about FP, their stuff is so short. Yikes. I’m loving this necklace. I can’t believe it’s already Thursday. Booo. Have a good day! Love ya!
Whenever a dress is to short, I go the leggings route and find they work great as tunics. This color is waaaay too pretty on you to send back! Keep it as you look incredible! I love my Zella’s but I must try those. Bet you and Katie are having a ball. Brody and I are but lots of Business Law to do and mom’s not much help, lol. Have fun beautiful!
What did we do before leggings? Well actually, before leggings things probably weren’t so short. HA. I just can’t imagine anyone wearing it as a dress. Katie liked it, but I told her she’d need to wear leggings too, that it’s too short. We are having fun. I took her to the dr. and he didn’t think it was kidneys (we decided we thought maybe a kidney infection) I’m really hoping the sample they sent for culture will come back positive so we can get her some medicine and she’ll feel better. She’s improved a little but still not great. ?. Hope you are having fun with Brody, even if it does involve school work? XOXO
My dear Lisa, you look absolutely stunning in this. It's so a keeper but you'll probably want to take up those sleeves so you can get on with life in this tunic (for that is what it is eh). Oh and the leoprint clutch, definitely, it brings the tunic colours A-LIVE! Hugs sweetie, x.
HI Mary!. You are so sweet. Thank you. This color has always been a good one for me but for some reason I rarely wear it. Honestly, Kent isn’t fond of the business of it, but I like it. ? Hope you are having a wonderful week. XOXO
I'm with you on adding leggings to a "dress" that is to short! Being 5'8 this happens all the time! I love how you styled it! It is such a fun pattern! I especially love it with the leopard print!
Thank you Kasey! I can’t even imagine being tall…lol. Isn’t it funny how now matter whether we’re short or tall there are always issue? Have a great week! XOXO
Well, that is just so cute but those sleeves would drive me right on over the edge. I have some sleeves like that but they are 3/4 length and I can handle that. I love Soma but have never tried their leggings but will check them out next week while I'm at our daughter's in Oklahoma City. Happy mid week Lisa!
That’s the only thing that worries me. I love the look of a bell sleeve but practically they are a nightmare. I would only wear this for church or a night out. Enjoy your time with your daughter.OXXO
Oh my goodness I love it as a Tunic ! You look fabulous as always ! Have a wonderful day :)
Thanks Tammy! Hope your week is going great! XO
This color looks so good on you, Lisa, and I love how you paired it with the leopard clutch!
How did I not see this comment? Thank you friend!!! You know how we love our leopard! XO
You look beautiful in this blue! Love these pictures.
Thanks friend!
This is a gorgeous tunic! I love the bright blue and the pattern is stunning! I love the bell sleeves! It's perfect with the leggings!

Thank you Ruth. I think it’s so fun (even though my husband isn’t really crazy about it…lol) Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend!! XO
