Friday Favorites #102

Happy Friday y’all. Do you realize we are already almost half way through the month of April? It’s just crazy. Another week means another round of Friday Favorites but first I’ve got to bring a little humor to your day.

#true story?

I’m straying from my normal Friday Favorites post to bring you a cute dress that is perfect for the fickle time of year we all seem to be experiencing. I know for some of you Old Man Winter is overstaying his welcome, and trust me, I get it. Been there done that. Even those of us in more desirable climates seem to be experiencing “sprinter”, this weird season that’s not quite spring, but not quite winter. One day it’s 80 degrees and the next day it’s 50. You most definitely have to check the weather when getting dressed.

Y’all know by now that I have a real love for smocking. I love it on little girls and even little boys. In the south, you can walk into any church on Sunday morning and find little ones all dressed in their precious little smocked frocks with big bows for days. Soooo sweet. I use to make most of Katie’s little smocked dresses and had such great sense of pride when she’d wear them. Well when I saw this little smocked big girl dress WITH pockets, it went right in my cart.

I’ve also told y’all that inevitably when I go out to take pictures, the wind starts up and I end up with a lot wind-blown look pictures just like this. I love this smocked dress and you can dress it up or down just by  changing out your shoes and accessories. I chose to wear my block heel sandals for a little more dressed up look here.

But if you are going for a more casual look or know you’re going to be doing a lot of walking or standing, you can switch out the heels for a cute flat sandal. My Tory Burch Miller sandals go with pretty much any outfit and have been worth every penny of the splurge I spent on them. There are several options on the Neiman Marcus site right now for $50 off and Shopbob is offering 20% off. These sandals rarely go on sale, so now’s a great time to scoop them up and enjoy them all spring and summer.

In the summer one of my most worn pieces of jewelry is this confetti colored tassel necklace. I LOVE IT! I also wear this turquoise necklace a lot and now it’s available in 4 other colors. It was called Azul Stone Pendant, but they’ve renamed it Sims Stone Pendant (for Sheaffer Told Me To) and added 4 more color choices. Use the code SIMS25 to get 25% off the turquoise or new stone colors through the weekend.

A denim jacket is the perfect topper for a day when it’s breezy and is a closet essential in my book. I have a light denim and dark denim and love them equally. I don’t know about you but even in the spring and summer I take a jacket everywhere I go. Why is it when you go into restaurants and stores it’s like the tundra. I can’t eat and shop when I’m freezing.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how I use to love getting different magazine subscriptions and sitting down and reading a stack of them. Now blogs have replace magazines for me. I love sitting down and reading what’s going on in friends lives, finding new products to try,  and fashion trends. If you are looking for new blogs, you can check out the ones I read most frequently listed to the right of my posts, and you can also click the Link Ups tab to see who I’m linking up with. Link ups are a great way to find new blogs.

  • Great dress...perfect with the denim jacket and the pop of color from the necklace. Have a fabulous weekend!

    • Thanks Tanya! Hope your weekend is wonderful too! Maybe you’ll be spending it by your beautiful pool?! xo

  • I know I can't believe it's half way through April either, how did that happen? Love your gorgeous looks here, you look absolutely stunning and certainly know how to style up looks beautifully.

    • Aw, Thank you so much Laura! I’m going to hop on over and visit your blog too. Have a wonderful weekend! XO

  • That dress is a winner and I love both ways you styled it! The denim jacket is perfect with it. Also lovin' the colorful tassel necklace - maybe that should be our next post together? Those TB sandals are cute with it too. Hey - your HAIR looks AWESOME in these pics - was it the wind because dang, supermodel it is working for you! Of course you know I'm all about bigger being better when it comes to hair!
    Love ya sweet friend!

    • Well thanks girlie! Hey! That’s a great idea. We can show all the ways we’ve worn that necklace. YAY! Happy Friday beautiful! XOXO

  • Oh, you tickled me when you said you can find little boys and girls all dressed in their smocked outfits on Sunday in the South. Soooooo true!!!! My son and daughter had more smocked outfits than the law allowed. My daughter lives in Oklahoma and they would not be caught dead in anything smocked. Just broke my heart!!!! And, the denim jackets, I agree 100%, they are a must have! Cute, cute dress too!

  • I was just thinking the other day that I haven't worn my denim jacket all season yet! What the what?! Part of the reason is because I just "moved' my closet last weekend! Love the dress!

    • Time for that jacket sweet friend! I really wear mine a lot in spring and fall, but not so much the rest of the year. Happy Monday! XO

    • Just do it Marianna! They are so cute. I waited for almost 2 years before I finally splurged. You may as well be enjoying them? Have a great week!!! XO

  • Love this dress on you! I'm curious about the necklace. Do you find the wood beads to be heavy on your neck? The older I get, the more particular I am about anything putting pressure on the back of my neck so some necklaces and even scarves have become off-limits for me b/c they are too heavy. This necklace is cute and goes with so much, so I'm tempted...

    • Michelle! You will LOVE this necklace. It is so lightweight and that’s one of the things I really love about it. I’m just like you and don’t like heavy necklaces. The blue stone one is heavier, but not enough to keep me from wearing it. Order this one…you won’t be sorry!!! XO

  • This looks so comfortable, and very stylish with a laidback feel. Super photos with a great backdrop. Thanks for joining my #chicandstylish #linkup. Jacqui Mummabstylish

    • It’s a great dress. I love taking photos on that bridge. It’s like being removed to Italy for a bit. ? Thanks for hosting a great linkup, Jacqui!! XO

      • Do you know what? I felt it was like the bridges in Venice! Oh to be in Venice! Happy weekend Hun. x

  • Absolutely adorable all the way around! Love these colors, the ease, the flow, the cutie wearing it all! Wind, darn wind but you look so fresh and fun, wind got nothing on you! Have a wonderful weekend!

  • I just love the colors of that smocked dress and it is so cute with the block heels or Tory sandals! These photos are so cute of you and your hair is looking top notch in these!!

    • Well thank you very much Carrie! I feel like my hair is such a hot mess all the time. The water here is so full of chemicals that my hair is in the worst shape ever.
