Welcome to May friends! The first Tuesday of the month is when we have our Ageless Style Link-up so that means we are kicking off the month of May with a bang. Just in case you aren’t familiar with our link up, here’s a little info.
The first Tuesday of every month ten over 40 bloggers present a different style theme and show a myriad of ways to wear it, all the while proving you can still be fashionable and on trend over 40 and beyond.
So this month I’m joining 8 other bloggers and we are sharing an item we have that we just don’t seem to wear. You know we all have things like that, right? Well let me just tell you that this was way harder for me than I even thought it would be. Here’s the thing, I figured out the items I have in my closet that for one reason or another that I don’t wear hold that place because I just don’t feel good in them. Life is too short to wear things even for a post that don’t make you feel your best. After trying on a couple of different things I didn’t want to be seen in, I finally had my light bulb moment.
So can guess just what it is in this photo that I don’t wear? If you guessed the shoes, you guessed right. They are great shoes made by a great designer. I’ve had them a good 10+ years but have worn them very little, even when I first purchased them. I really think the main reason I bought them was because my mom is a big fan of Donald J. Pliner shoes and they were such a great deal. I got them at the end of the season during one of Dillard’s huge clearance sales.

You know if you hold on to some things they come back around and as luck would have it, mules are back, baby. I pulled these out in the fall and wore them again {one time}, the day I took these pictures. I think they are really cute and they’re such nice shoes I just can’t bring myself to part with them even though I really don’t wear them. I think it’s the fit and the day I did wear them I got a blister. #aintnobodygottimeforthat

So what item(s) do you have that you can’t part with? I also have a few items I hold onto just as a gauge for my physical size? Do you do that? I’ll pull out an old piece to see how it fits. Sick, right? Even though it may be a little sick, it is an effective way to keep your size in check if you’re like me and always trying to fight the battle of the bulge.

My mom has a pair of shoes by this designer---definitely super cool!! But mules are totally in style again, so I bet you can have fun with these--although the blister thing is a bummer!!!

You did a spectacular job my friend! I felt myself nodding along as I was reading. Donald J. Pilner shoes - oh yes!!! I had a pair I got at a consignment store and finally got rid of them last year because they hurt, it sure was hard to say goodbye though. I have a few items in my closet I keep just to make sure my size stays in check. That is crazy, right? I know we aren't the only ones but sometimes it does feel like #crazypartyoftwo ! Ha!!!

I didn't notice the shoes at first Lisa because you look so radiant. Your skin looks beautiful! I think your shoes look fab!! Can you style them with socks? - that's very trendy at the mo' - I can't pull the look off but wish I could - it would certainly save on the blisters! They are adorable. But I understand. If they hurt your feet they might as well go.... unless a little specifically place moleskin padding would help. ;-)

This is a very cute outfit and I immediately knew you were going to say it was the shoes. :) They are cute, and mules are so on trend right now. I have found myself buying or hanging on to items just because I know they are a great brand even if they aren't perfect for me. I have learned it's better to just walk away...

I knew instantly it was going to be the shoes. How funny and they are so pretty. I have lots in my closet that I just can't part with but I have also parted with a ton. I got rid of 8 pair of shoes just yesterday and carried probably 50 items of clothing to the consignment store. I'm making progress.

I used to have SO MANY of those pieces in my closet, but I worked to get rid of them, as hard as it was. TOTALLY worth it haha (hint, hint!) Either way, you're adorable :)
