Today I’m sharing the cutest floral dress, you’ve probably seen on quite a few other bloggers in our bloggy world. I had admired it and thought it was so cute and when I was in Nashville for the wedding a few weeks ago. Erin and Katie and I were out shopping for dresses for Erin to wear to a couple of wedding related fuctions. We went into Loft #ofcoursewedid and as luck would have it found two dresses for her and one for me.
I’ve already mentioned that for some reason I’m having a moment with dresses this spring. I’d really gotten out of the habit of wearing them, but lately I’ve been drawn to so many.
I wore this to church Sunday and so before we left I popped out back to snap a few pictures. Y’all will think I’m crazy when I tell you what I’m about to, but the weather here drives me NUTS. I think it’s probably because this southern girl, who grew up in heat and humidity just can’t appreciate the unpredictability of the weather. Sunday morning it was in the 50’s (hence the denim jacket). Ummm, hello! It’s June Mr. Weatherman. I know I shouldn’t complain and there are a lot of y’all who are shooting darts at me with your eyes right about now, but I like my summer to feel like summer. #rantover
Back to the dress. Isn’t it cute?! Why yes it is. I think it’s one of the prettiest floral patterns I’ve ever seen. The colors are just beautiful.
With the sweet little flutter sleeves, V-neck and tulip hem, there’s no lacking for details either. If you look closely you can also see there is a little inset of fabric under the sleeve so your bra doesn’t show. That is genius! I love attention to detail like that, and honestly it’s so often lacking.
I wore some of my favorite pieces of jewelry that are simple but still make a statement. Not much is needed when the dress is the star of the show. I was watching an episode of The Pioneer Woman yesterday and she was wearing the same earrings. Contrary to how my ear holes look, these are not heavy. I think years of large earrings have stretched mine out a bit. I wear this Kendra Scott necklace pretty much every day. #youneedone
So are you ready for the kicker on this dress? When we were in LOFT there was a CLEARANCE (one of my all time favorite words) rack in the dressing room area. There were several of these dresses hanging on it and they were marked down to, wait for it….$4.88. WHAT?!?! Since I had already been looking at this dress online you know I snatched the small up like a mad woman. Once I tried it on, Erin decided to try it and she loved it too. We both walked out with it in our bags and she wore hers to the Bride’s Maid Brunch. Gotta’ tell ya’, I felt pretty darn good that my then future DIL would buy the same dress as me. ?
We pretty much decided they must have been marked down like that by mistake and we were the lucky recipients of said mistake. My friend Elizabeth called to try to find one for herself, but no other Loft stores had them for that price and they were still $84.88 online.
So the moral of today’s story is, it pays to be in the right place at the right time and this dress is cute with a capital C!
