Monday Musings

Happy Monday friends! We had the most gorgeous weekend here. The weather finally felt like bona-fide summer and was nice and warm. We tried to spend as much time as possible outside soaking it all up. We walked 7 miles on Saturday morning and then a little less on Sunday morning before getting ready for church. We were in a habit of doing what we called our “bagel walk” on Saturday’s and would walk to a nearby bagel shop, get brunch and then walk home. Well we decided we didn’t need to do that every Saturday and have now adopted a stop at Starbucks instead. We share an iced coffee and get 2 big waters.

Of course we then undid all of our walking by meeting friends for Mexican last night and eating way too many chips. Oh well, you only live once. Right?!?!

I’m taking a deep breath and getting ready to tackle the Nordstrom sale that starts later this week. I’ve intentionally not mentioned it yet because if you’re anything like me, you’re probably already slightly sick of hearing about it. How can a retail sale be so exhausting? HA!

There’s a part of me that says, don’t bother but the other part of me just can’t let it go. What say you? Do y’all want to see try-ons and purchases from the sale? It’s almost like a blogger right of passage. LOL

The key to early access to the Nordstrom sale is to be a card member. Honestly, 2 years ago at the beginning of the sale is when I got my Nordstrom card. There really are benefits to it and no down side. There’s no fee and plenty of perks. Win-win!

This is taken right from the application page:

  • Earn 2 points per dollar spent in stores and online at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, HauteLook and Trunk Club.
  • Get a $40 bonus Note when you make any purchase with us on your new card the day you’re approved.

So to sum it up, you earn Nordstrom notes, free alterations, early sale access and at least one triple points day. Really, there’s nothing to lose. If you want to go ahead and get early access, click here or on the picture above to apply for your own card and start earning.

I love fresh flowers and some of my favorites are tulips. We went by Trader Joe’s yesterday and among some of the things we picked up were two bunches of yellow tulips.

A friend at bible study brought flowers for a brunch one day in the cutest container and I loved it. I’d been on the hunt ever since and finally happened upon it at Hobby Lobby.

Isn’t it adorable? It’s the perfect accompaniment on my coffee table.

I couldn’t find the exact one online but here’s a similar one. (not an affiliate link)

Well that about wraps it up for today. Hope you have a wonderful Monday and your week starts off on the right foot.

  • I love that container, I must get one! It is perfect on your coffee table - and girl, how do you keep Twix bars there? I would eat every last one! Tulips are one of my favorite flowers, we really don't get them here much because it is so warm but they are so pretty. I love the yellow, and yes, we need fresh flowers in our homes weekly! I can't wait to see what you order from the big NSale! I swear people are talking about "prepping" for it - okay that just cracks me up because the only thing you really need to "prep" for is surgery or maybe a colonoscopy! Ha!
    Have a great night friend!

    • Isn’t it so stinkin’ cute?! LOL to the Twix bars. They are all still there (with the exception of maybe one and I even really like them) I can have pretty good will power when I try. XOXO

  • Love your cheerful tulips and long walks with the Mr. Oh yeah those baskets of chips do me in, sooo good! So today I wrote up next Monday’s post about caving to the #NSale. I wasn’t even going to do one this year but a blogger friend told me she made enough money during the sale to buy all her Christmas presents so I was like ok, this Mom could use some Christmas dough and not use all of Mr. Nine’s now that I don’t work, lol. I had a lot of misses last year but without a Nordy’s close, it all online will it fit, will I likely roulette, lol.

    • Gosh, you go girl. I hope you can make enough to cover your Christmas gifts. I make squat, but still do it anyway. Loved seeing all your goodies. You have the best taste! XO

  • Love, LOVE the addition of the yellow tulips to your living room! Talk about a burst of sunshine! I’m kinda already over the Nstrom sale and it hasn’t even started yet! What can I say?!

    • I finally had to toss them yesterday, but once we get back from vacation, you can bet I’ll be getting some more. Kent really loved them too, which is nice. Yes, the Nsale is so much hype, but I just bye right into it. #sucker XOXO

  • OK - those jars & tulips are just precious - those are my favorite flowers anyways. But bunched up so cute!!!!

    • Thank you Rebecca Jo! When I saw it I was so excited I found it. Hope you are having a great week. Thanks for commenting! XO

  • Hobby Lobby has some of the cutest finds. I love those yellow tulips, so pretty! I am so behind on the Nordstrom sale and I'm going out of town soon. Agh. It seems to be all the talk in blogland! I can't believe you walked 7 miles, that is just awesome. Oh, I would have a hard time 'sharing' an iced coffee!! Iced coffee is my favorite treat right now.

    • Don’t they. When it first opened here, my family was so sick of going with me. HAHAHA!

  • That vase is adorable! And it looks super cute with your flowers in it! I just love fresh flowers in a house!

  • The flowers are beautiful Lisa! Love the sound of your weekend walks too- such quality time together AND exercise-win win :)

    • Thank you Holly! Yes, we like getting the time and the exercise. Hope you’re having a great week! XOXO

  • I love the Nordstrom Anniversary sale -- especially when I lost all this weight! LOL Now, Tony may not agree with me. Have a fabulous week! I am JUST getting to my blog reading this morning! Happy Hump Day!

  • Even though I don't really shop the NSale, I still like to see what my blogger friends get! Your Starbucks walk sounds like my kind of Saturday morning ritual! I've heard Bay Area summer weather was pretty chilly all through June so I'm glad you're finally getting some sunshine and warmth!

    • We live in Dublin about 30 miles East of the city, so our weather is totally wacky. Cool in the morning, can get really hot in the day and cooler in the evening. SJ was probably similar? XO
