Make Your Home Natural with Simply Earth Essential Oils

Hey y’all! Are you a spring cleaner? Me? Not so much. I’m more of a keep clean all the time kind of girl. If you do fall in the camp of spring cleaning, then this post just might tickle your fancy. More and more I am hearing people talk about finding natural methods of cleaning, and this months subscription box from Simply Earth will help you do just that. Make your home natural with Simply Earth essential oils. Nice and clean without added chemicals.

If you’re like me you can feel overwhelmed thinking about where to start. So how about we make a resolution to each other that we won’t let that happen. Instead we’ll tackle this a little bit at a time and using this months box, we’ll start with all things soap.

The April box has recipes for making our own natural laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, foaming hand soap, laundry stain remover, surface cleaner, and of course a mix for our diffusers.

Our oils this month are Lemon, Tea Tree, Nutmeg and BO Be Gone. (that one makes me snicker a little)

Let’s start with laundry detergent. The most difficult task in this entire process was grating this bar of Fels-Naptha, and we’ll just call that a tiny arm workout. I’m sure you could probably throw it in a food processor, but grating it old school on a box grater is much more gratifying. On a side note, you could play a pretty good joke on your kids or husband and leave this sitting on the counter to see if they eat it thinking it’s cheese. #notthatiddothat

The laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent use most of the same ingredients. The hardest thing to find was the ‘wash soda’. I found mine at Lowe’s online and ordered it for in store pick up. Easy peasy. Just mix the ‘wash soda’, Borax, grated Fels-Naptha and oils and BOOM you just made your own laundry detergent.

Making the dishwasher detergent was equally as simple and didn’t even require an arm workout.

How about whipping up your own Tea Tree and Lemon Surface cleaner? All we need is some distilled water, a little Borax, white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, Tea Tree oil and Lemon oil. Mix the instructed amounts together and pour into the aluminum spray bottle that’s included with your box. Now you can spray down all your counter tops and feel good not only that they’re clean, but no chemical residue is left behind.

Sometimes you’ll need a little stain remover and there’s also a recipe included for that. The roller bottle comes in your bonus box and there are quite a few extras. How fun would it be to make a friend a little basket of natural cleaning products and take them when you go visit?

As luck would have it I had just run out of hand soap and this months box also had a recipe for that. I peeled the label off of my empty bottle and was able to mix my new soap right inside.
For this one I needed distilled water, Castile soap, fractionated coconut oil, B.O Be Gone and Nutmeg oil.

Remember my tip from last months post about keeping all the recipe cards on a ring, so they’re together at your fingertips.

So if you’re ready to make your home natural with Simply Earth essential oils and you want your own subscription then use my code COASTTOCOAST2FREE, and you will receive a $20 gift card with your initial subscription box and a bonus box. The bonus box comes with all the extras you need like dark glass roller bottles, solid coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil, beeswax, and almond oil. • My Chemist mixing up the goods!! Love this! My oils have been out in full force this week but I have never tried my own cleaners, or soaps, I need to do that!! Happy Day friend!

    • I actually did like chemistry believe it or not. Kinda freaks Kent out. HAHAHA! The laundry detergent was awesome. I just finished if off yesterday. XO

  • I have been making my own laundry detergent for a while now and I started using my food processor with the cheese grater attachment to grate my soap! Then I just wash everything in the dishwasher! :)

    • I wondered about that. I figure this time, I'd kick it old school, but next time I'd definitely pull out the food processor. I loved the laundry detergent.

  • I really haven't jumped on the EO's bandwagon yet, but I love the sound of all of this! Especially with a new baby in the house, we need to get things cleaner and fresher (and with spring around the corner, it's a perfect time!)

    • Yes ma'am. This is the perfect way to try it. Next month (aka week) I'm going to have a great offer for my readers!?

  • I've definitely started introducing more of this once I brought sophia home! xo, Biana

  • I make a similar surface cleaner with tea tree oil, lemon oil, and mint oil! Except I don't use vinegar since I heard it can be caustic on granite surfaces-I just use water and alcohol. It works really well and smells amazing!

  • I like the idea of an all natural, good smelling dishwasher detergent. BO Be Gone? Ha, ha!! I love it.
