Well it’s official my friends. We are HALF way through 2019. I can’t even. This is pretty much the time of year I live for. I am a summer time girl to my core. Sun and warm days would be my choice for all the time if I could order it up. Today is the last Wednesday of the month, so that means it’s hello What’s Up Wednesday – good-bye June.
What we’re eating this week…
Monday and Tuesdays are typically low carb days for me since doing the Faster Way to Fat Loss. I don’t follow the program to a T, but I have implemented aspects of it into my daily and weekly routines.
Monday night we had hamburgers w/cheese. I ate mine with no bun, and Kent had a bun. We had Twice Baked Cauliflower with it. If you haven’t tried that…do it!
Last night we had steaks and asparagus. (and of course I ate without taking a picture.) If you’ve never made steaks using Ina Garten’s recipe, you really need to try it. They rival any steak you get in a high priced steakhouse. #trustme
We’re also going to have Asian Chicken Salad one night.
What I’m loving…
My new denim shorts. I know y’all are probably thinking, “enough already with the shorts, lady”. You’d totally get it if you knew how long I’d been looking for a pair. Y’all! These babies are on major sale, so go check them out HERE.
What we’ve been up to…
Same old, same old. We’re just doing our empty nest thing.
What I’m dreading…
Nothing. Woohoo!
What I’m working on…
Blogging. I’m working on trying to do a better job of scheduling. #thestruggleisreal I’m really bad about flying by the seat of my pants when it comes to blogging, which is really weird considering I’m an organizer by nature. Go figure.
What I’m excited about…
V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N
Next month we are going to the beach and all the kids are coming. Benny and Erin, and Katie and Luke. This will be our first vacation with all of us. We’ve had each of the couples separately on vacation, but not at the same time. I think it’s going to be a blast.
What I’m watching/reading…
I’m almost embarrassed to say I’m watching the Bachelorette, but I just can’t help myself. Kent and I are also watching the Good Wife. Last summer we started Blacklist and then finished it over the winter. We need something to watch while our normal shows are on hiatus, so The Good Wife it is. I wish our normal shows didn’t take a summer break.
What I’m listening to…
Not podcasts…LOL. Seems everyone I know is listening to them, but I’m not into it. I think it goes along with my not being a reader.
What I’m wearing…
This peplum tee has made its way to the front of the line. I love it, and yesterday I ordered another one in light blue. It’s soft and slightly stretchy and so much cuter than a plain white tee.
Still loving my jumpsuit. It’s made of the softest material and easy to get up and down. Oh, and of course there’s the whole it has pockets thing.
I am so smitten with these new white jeans from Loft. They have the cutest eyelet detail. I think I’m starting a collection of white Loft jeans. I seem to be adding a new pair every year. I’m up to 3. They all have a different detail at the bottom and that’s gets me every time…apparently.
What I’m doing this weekend…
Your guess is as good as mine. HA!
What I’m looking forward to next month…
A new linkup with my blogging girls. We are having a
RED, WHITE, BLUE AND YOU
linkup on July 1st. Join us and link up your 4th of July inspiration and all things red, white & blue.
What else is new…
The same group of bloggers listed above are starting a “Style Six” fashion link-up sometime in late summer/early fall. Seems a lot of the fashion
link-ups have fallen by the wayside and we want to fix that. Stay tuned for more info.
Whew, What’s Up Wednesday posts are long. If you stuck around and read the whole thing, I applaud you. Thanks for not being a quitter.?

Eek, I love what you said about the Fashion Link-Up!! I am so excited for your vacation. Sadly we will be missing one of ur boys again on ours, we knew it would get to a point where all 5 of us weren't always there. LOVE your outfits so much and I just hoped over and printed your asian chicken salad recipe. I make one but I love your dressing, so much healthier! Have the sweetest day my friend! xo
I'm sorry one of the boys can't make it. Erin and Benny can only stay half the week, but we'll take what we can get. Right?! Happy vacation!!! XOXO
Your vacation sounds perfect! How wonderful to have all of your loves with you! You'll be livin' the life my friend! I'm so happy for you! Love ya!!!
xo,
Kellyann
CAN.NOT.WAIT!!!! Thanks girl!!! XOXO
I love Asian chicken salad and am pinning your recipe! I'm pretty organized by nature but really struggle with my blog. I always read that you should plan out your editorial calendar for the year but I don't even have July planned out! Looking forward to your linkup next week!

Oh my gosh, if I had to plan for a year, I need to be medicated. I can't even really plan for a week. HA! Hope you like the salad! XO
That asian chicken salad looks really good! I need to change up my salads and may need to try something similar. Yum!

Thanks Mireille! You can eat a ton of it...not sure if that's good or bad. LOL Happy weekend! XO
I saw a meme yesterday that said we were exactly six months away from Christmas!! Say what? Oh my goodness! We gotta check in with Kellyann and see if she's tried that steak recipe again since she nearly burned her house down the last time! Ha! I wonder if she's even used that skillet again?! And lastly, I JUST tried on the Amazon jumper this morning before work and it was a no-go, which I knew it probably would be, but OMG! That thing IS THICK!! Even if it had worked out for me, I would have burned up in this Louisiana heat! Oh, well. It was worth a try, though. I did my first Amazon Wardrobe thingy and it was a complete bust! Better luck next time, maybe?
OH MY GOSH! I totally forgot about her cast iron escapade. LOL. Sorry the jumpsuit didn't work for you. YES, it is thick, and feels like wearing jammies all day. My first Amazon Wardrobe was a total bust too. LOL Happy weekend!!! XOXO
I have been so bad about scheduling (or even doing) blog posts this summer. The struggle is real! I know you're going to have so much fun with your grown up kids! You make the empty nest look like so much fun!
Thanks Tanya!!! It's certainly been better than we expected. I still miss them, but they're happy and that makes me happy! XOXO
Your vacation sounds fabulous Lisa. And I need to change up what we have for dinners...I have been SO boring lately!!
XOXO
Jodie
It's so easy to get in a rut...I know? We're totally pumped about spending time with our people!
XOXO
Oh, I love those shorts and that orange halter is the bomb. I'm a FWTFL gal too. Just got certified as a coach and am super excited about it!
I knew you had become a coach (or were working towards it) Congratulations!!!
XOXO
Woo hoo, I'm not a quitter! LOL! Hooray for finding jean shorts that have become a new staple for you! Your Asian chicken salad looks soooo good! Have you tried any podcasts? There are some blogging related ones you might surprise yourself by enjoying or learning a few things! :)
I tried one Julie Solomon podcast, but...
Maybe I'll try another. Thanks for the encouragement!!!
XOXO
I'm the same way with blogging! Typically I'm planning a few days or week ahead, but I'm really trying to get better! Sometimes I can be a full week ahead with prepared posts, but then life gets in the way. Oh well! So many people rave about FWTFL maybe when my youngest starts school in November part time I will look into it! I don't like buns with my burgers anyway. It takes away from the flavor!
I'm usually planning as I sit down to type it out. HA! You look great...you don't need the FTWFL?
XOXO
