Spend or Save…You Decide

Hi friends and Happy Monday! Welcome to a new week. The last week in January! #crazyright It’s time for a little Spend or Save…You Decide. Some of you are probably aware of a “new collection” that dropped last week from our friends at Gibson and Nordstrom. Now I can’t speak for everyone, but for the most part I’m looking for pieces I can add to my closet with a little longevity. Some of these fall into that column, and some don’t. I went looking for some more economical alternatives to some of these and found some pretty good dupes. I know it’s not like these pieces in the new collection are all that pricey, but why spend when you can save. Am I right?

You’ll be able to shop all of these pieces at the end of this post.

You don’t get much more classic or basic than a simple black maxi. These are super to have in your closet because you can dress them up or down. Wear with heels for a dressier look or flip flops for a more casual look and accessorize accordingly.

Boho maxi skirts are also a staple these days. They are available in solids and all sorts of super cute prints. You don’t have to shell out a fortune for them either thanks to our friends at Amazon. They have got us covered. There are also some really cute short ones as well.

I remember having a bodysuit as part of my cheering uniform in elementary school. (that’s as far as my cheer career went?) Well apparently they are back. They’d be great under anything where you don’t want a line from the bottom of your shirt to show, or need to make sure you stay tucked. #nohellomrplumber These are super basic and I have a feeling we’ll see them pop up at quite a few retailers.

Denim skirts. They’ve been around a sweet forever and from the looks of things, they plan to stay.

Playful designs on long Boho skirts are plentiful and so darn cute. Knotted with a tee or sleek with a body suit. Either way, throw on your favorite denim jacket and hit the town.

Here’s a real shocker…a black and white striped tee. HA! The thing is these are such well loved pieces they most likely could be replaced seasonally. You can probably find a black and white striped version in most stores and a variety of styles. Just find the one that fits your body type and style. Crew neck, v-neck, scoop neck, boat neck, it doesn’t matter. They’re all good. Wear what you like and what makes you feel good.

That’s it for this edition of Spend or Save…You decide.

SHOP ANY OF THESE PIECES BELOW

I’m joining Vanessa of X-tremely V for a new link up. The Feels. This is going to be a monthly happening with a few easy questions. Sounds fun and easy enought, right?

Favorite meal – Hmmm…I am a food lover. I wish I could say I eat to live, but let’s be honest, I love to eat. HA! So for today let’s just say Chicken Pot Pie.

Favorite Movie/TV Show/Book – If you’ve been around here for more than a split second, you know I make no bones about not being a reader. #aintnobodygottheattentionforthat #ohitsjustme For the las 2 months my TV show of choice (read binging) has been Grey’s Anatomy. I’m almost caught up to the current episode.

Favorite Activity – I don’t think this will come as a surprise to anyone. My favorite thing to do is go to Nashville and visit my kids and friends. ❤️

Favorite Moment – I love the quiet of mornings when everything is still. The best part is it’s not just one moment, but something to look forward to every day.

Goal for February – Good content for YOU!

Now that we’re almost through the lull of January, we can begin to see the spring light at the end of the winter tunnel. Hallelujah. I wish we could go straight from Christmas to spring. Anyone else?

  • I love all of your save options! I am chuckling because you know I head to Amazon anytime I like something expensive and try to find a reasonable option - that boho skirt is in my cart in blue - hahaha!!! I'm sharing a bodysuit today, I agree they are here to stay and I love that they don't come untucked!
    Awesome post my friend!
    xo,

    • LOL...you know we're just alike. I want one of those skirts too and maybe the shorter version as well. XOXO

  • What a great idea for a post. The saves really look as good if not better than the splurges. Mmmmm, now I'm hungry for a Chicken Pot Pie and loving my quiet mornings too. YOU gave me the cozy feels and wishing you and cozy Monday lovely!

    • Thanks sweet friend!!! It was rewarding to find some good alternatives. Now go make a chicken pot pie? XOXO

  • You know I'm all about saving! Seeing the black maxi reminds me to break mine out this Spring and summer because I don't think I wore it at all last year. I seriously need to do a closet purge before I start buying for the new season. Have a great Monday!

    • I've been working on my closet gradually for a while. I get motivated and then flat line. LOL

  • I love a good save vs. splurge post! You found some great pieces. I'm really intrigued by those longer boho skirt! I think I'm going to have to try that style come spring.

  • I maintain that chicken pot pie is love on a plate! I was just facing the save or splurge question on a pair of dark brown booties. While I don't skimp on footwear, I knew they wouldn't be getting tons of wear. Fortunately, many styles are on sale right now (although sizes are limited).

  • This is such a great post. I love the pieces in that new collection, but sadly I didn't even click to look at them because they are just not things that I would really pay Nordstrom prices for. Thanks for finding affordable alternatives! I'm off to check out that new link up too. Hope you have a wonderful week.

  • I tend to be a thrift shopper. Except when it comes to shoes and coats. Or really unique items. While I love the idea of quality pieces to have for many years, I'm never sure I'll be the same size, or like the same styles. I'm crazy, right?
    XOXO

    • Nope, not crazy. We all have our own shopping methods. You go thrift woman. I love it!!! XOXO

  • I need to check out that save option for the black maxi!! I could use a bodysuit, too... it'd be great with paper bag pants or skirts that are fuller.

  • I am NOT ready for warmer temps because living in the Central Valley of California......we have HOT from April to November. NO THANK YOU! ugh and ick! I wasn't impressed with the Sugarplum items or Gibson at Nordstrom. Way over priced for the quality. Just my opinion. I don't mind spending more for high quality items. But not something that is made cheaply and everyone has. Again, just my opinion. I am doing a 20 items in 2020 challenge so I will be really thinking good and hard about what I buy this year. I have WAY TOO MUCH Stuff. It's kind of crazy and sad and overwhelming and I love this challenge! Ok, getting off my soapbox now LOL! Have a great week!
