Four Summer Must Haves

Hi friends! Yesterday was the first official day of summer. The thermometer has been saying summer for a few weeks, but now the calendar has caught up. I thought it would be a great time to share four summer must haves. There are really a lot more than four, but that seems like a nice number for today.

STRAW HAT
A good straw hat is on the top of my list of four summer must haves. Not only can it be used to make you look so chic or cover dirty hair, it’s really important to protect our skin, and particularly our faces. Some of the straw hats on the market even have built in sun protection. Sign me up! This hat is a Pineapple & Star hat from Amazon and it has UPF50 built right in, so with your sunscreen you’ve got double protection. The other hat I have from Amazon is this one. It’s a little cheaper, but still a very good hat.

SUMMER TOTE
A good summer tote is another summer must have. Whether you use it as a purse on the daily or for a pool/beach tote, changing out your bag to a more summery material is a fun, easy way to ‘summerize’ your wardrobe. This one is more of a rope type in a neutral color with a little silver thread woven in. The size is pretty perfect. No too big, and not too small.

WHITE JEANS
You know white jeans had to make the list. The good news is that white jeans aren’t just for summer any longer. They can be worn year round…if you can get past the “no white after Labor Day” rule. This pair I got this spring and they have caused me to shove all my old favorites to the side. These are Chico’s, no stain, girlfriend ankle jeans. Being ankle jeans means they are the perfect regular length on me. The ‘no stain’ is not just a gimmick either, I spilled a little bit of drink on them and it just beaded up, and I brushed it right off. My other favorite brand of white jeans is Loft. I have 3 pairs from there, so if you aren’t interested in Chico’s try Loft.

PS. This is a really cute, lightweight summer top. Perfect for cooler summer days and nights.

NEUTRAL FLAT SANDALS
By now you’ve probably noticed I am a h u g e fan of a neutral sandal. I probably wear them 6 out of 7 days a week. They make packing for trips easy, and are basically a no brainer. My favorite, go-to pair is my Tory Burch Millers. My favorite color is the Makeup. I have them in Vintage Vachetta Leather and Black Patent as well. These are an investment, and it took my a long time to swallow the price, but after the pair, I’ve gotten a new pair for the last couple years. They are cute and surprisingly comfortable, but you do need to size up a half size. There is a very good “dupe” available if you want the look for less. They’ve also come out with a version that has a footbed more like a Birkenstock style called Miller Cloud Sandal. I’m thinking the name says it all, and I also think they’ve been a huge hit because they started with only one or two colors and have added quite a few more. A lot of women can’t wear a shoe that is totally flat, and these are supposed to be really comfy.

NEUTRAL HEELS –
The same exact reasoning applies to a pair of neutral heels as a pair of neutral flats. They are a closet staple, go with most everything and make packing much easier. You can invest in a nicer pair knowing you’ll be able to wear them frequently. This has been my go to pair this summer. I actually purchased them last summer during the N Sale and with Covid, I never had the chance to wear them. They have been the only heel I’ve worn so far this year. They are available in limited sizes, but there are soooo many good options available.

So now that I’ve shared my four Summer must haves, what are yours? Tell me in the comments.
