Hi friends and happy Friday! Do you ever feel stuck in a rut or like your outfit is just a little flat? Let’s talk about how to add interest to an outfit. This isn’t revolutionary information, but it might not be something you’ve tried yet. What am I talking about? Pattern mixing. Are you taking advantage of it?
There was a time I think if we had mixed patterns or prints, people would have thought we’d lost it, but now it’s visually pleasing and we love it. The trick is making sure you are using compatible prints or patterns. I think the only real no-no in my opinion is you don’t want two small florals. That just looks like you got dressed in the dark. This outfit is a great way to see how to pattern mix.
There are a lot of things to love about this outfit, and the entire thing is available on Chico’s website. The leggings are great, with a cute little stud detail at the ankle, but the star of the show in my opinion is the striped top. Look how the stripes go in different directions. That right there alone adds visual interest, but you know I can’t just leave it alone.
One of the easiest ways, and one of my favorites is to mix stripes and animal print. Animal prints are considered a neutral. I believe the key is staying in the color family. Making it subtle. Adding the leopard loafers with the striped tunic, makes it so much more fun…at least I think it does.
This striped tunic is from the no-iron collection and it is fabulous. I love this fabric and have about 4 shirts made out of it. Some of the styles have a stand up collar, and those are my favorites. I’m an 80’s girl at heart. Give me all the big hair, popped collars and shoulder pads. LOL Those were the days!
Chico’s has a huge selection of accessories and is constantly adding to them. The addition of shoes started this summer, and I have quite a few pairs. They are good quality and comfortable.
Now tell me if you pattern mix and how you add interest to an outfit. I’d love to know.

I rarely pattern mix but that's mainly because I tend to buy solids. I didn't realize just how few patterns I had in my closet until someone suggested a pattern mixing challenge and I went digging through my closet.
I didn't realize Chico's had shoes! I agree, pattern mixing is definitely a way to add interest! Happy weekend friend - love ya!

Never think about mixing patterns. I love the entire look!
I have this shirt as well and love it. I'm a big Chicos fan for the most part.
