Hi friends! I bet you’re being bombarded with all things Nordstrom. Well not today. How about a Loft summer try on? I went into Loft recently and found some good pieces to share with you. The timing is perfect because everything is 40% to 50% off on the website.
I love it when you find pieces that you can wear multiple ways. Sometimes you just have to think about it a bit. I know sometimes I’ll buy things to go together and never think to put them with something else. I tried to do that with this try on to show you some versatility.
I truly LOVE the Lou & Grey brand that is sold at Loft and also some free standing Lou & Grey stores. I think they are especially known for having super soft pieces. This sweatshirt is definitely that. It’s like wearing a sweet baby blanket and so cute for summer nights if you live somewhere that’s not the south. I have on an XS. I find the brand runs generous.
The jeans are great too. I’d say they were perfect if it wasn’t for the high rise. I also find the high rise at Loft to be pretty darn high and if you’re short waisted [like me] they are a little harder to style and wear. I love the light wash and the kick crop style with the let down hem.
Let’s start with the bright pink jeans. They’re also the kick crop style and grabbed them in curvy without realizing it, so I should have sized down. Fit tip: Typically when I wear the curvy style I can size down one.
The first top I picked up thinking, “meh”, but I’ll try it, and once I put it on I loved it. It will be a fabulous transition piece as well as workwear.
The next top is mixed media. It’s a cut clip dot blouse look with a sweater vest that’s attached. It’s absolutely darling and when they are attached like this, it makes layering so much easier.
Of course I’m always drawn to a sweet white top. Just look in my closet, and you’ll find plenty. This one has great details and is perfect for a hot summer day.
HOT PINK JEANS (28 CURVY, NEED 27) || FLORAL TOP (XS) || MIXED MEDIA TOP (XS) || WHITE TOP (XS)
Here is a cute sundress that would work well into fall if you add a black blazer or jean jacket and some booties. This one runs B I G. I’m in a 4 and it was huge, so size down at least one. When Loft is having a sale and you aren’t sure what size, it’s best to add 2 sizes and just return one…if you have a store near by. Returns in store are free.
Here’s a great example of how all of these tops go with the light wash jeans, but if you scroll back up you can see the exact same tops with the bright pink jeans. See? Versatility 😉 They would all work with dark wash jeans as well as black pants.
This may have been my favorite piece of the day, but I loved so many it’s hard to say. I seem to have a crush on shirt dresses at the moment. The color of this one is just beautiful and talk about versatility. Wear it belted with the matching belt, change to a raffia belt, wear it unbelted, wear it open as a duster or wear it over a swimsuit as a cover up. So many options.
The 4th of July is just around the corner and that means lots of cookouts and backyard BBQ’s. There are so many fun outdoor games for July 4th, and you can order them on Amazon to get them in time. These would be fun to have set up in stations around your yard, or some of them could easily be carried to a park if you’re gathering there.
I’ve seen several of these in use at the beach as well. Big kids/young adults and even older adults sometimes enjoy having something to do when spending an entire day on the beach.
GIANT WOODEN YARD DICE – You can play two games with these giant dice. Yardzee or Yardkle. HAHAHA!
YARD DARTS – Not only are these yard darts, they glow in the dark. Now personally, by the time it gets dark during the summer we’re already in our jammies, but if you like to walk on the wild side, these are for you. LOL
YARD CONNECT FOUR – Did you have Connect Four as a kid? I did, and I loved it. I think this would be fun, and even the littles could play.
BADMINTON – This looks like such an easy way to play Badminton. This game has been around forever. This net doesn’t require spikes, and I think that would keep it from sagging.
LADDER TOSS – We bought one of these years ago for Katie’s graduation party. I had played it somewhere and it was a lot of fun. We will be pulling this out the next time we have a gathering.
HORSESHOES – I haven’t played horseshoes in years, but I used to love it. Most kids these days have probably never heard of it. Let’s bring it back.
BOCCE BALL – The only time I’ve played this was at an Italian restaurant, but it was a lot of fun.
GIANT JENGA – Not gonna’ lie, this one scares me a little. We went to a party with a reallly giant one, and I was terrified it would fall on someone. I think this one is a slightly smaller scale, so probably a lot safer.
CORN HOLE – This is a crowd pleaser, and I see a lot of people who take them (in a wagon) out on the beach to play. Little kids love playing with the bean bags for this one.
Check out this post with red, white and blue looks to go with your new outdoor games for July 4th.
Or this post has more red, white and blue all American summer style that would be fantastic for the 4th.

I have been eyeing that pink shirt dress - so pretty!! I need to get into Loft soon!
xo,
Kellyann
I knew it!! Was just thinking Kellyann needs that baby!! So do I. Love that bright color. But I just bought a very similar dress at Wally World. Hmmm, can I justify two? This one is Barbie PINK though.
Everything looks so cute on you, Lisa, but that shirtdress is especially adorable!
