I’m back friends! I intended to do a little wedding recap, but I’m waiting on a few sneak peak photos from the photographer. I popped into the mall the other day a did a little Talbots mid summer try on. Okay, so maybe saying “mid” is a bit of a stretch, but I’m not ready in my heart to think about late summer yet. Most of these pieces are on sale for 50% off. I’ll be sharing some of these in my Instagram story today if you want to hear more about them.
This dress was my absolute favorite piece out of the entire try on. I mean it’s so cute, and comfy and I think it would work for so many occasions. It’s perfect for a hot summer day, vacation or a cute teacher look. I think you could also belt it and add a blazer to make it office appropriate.
This summer I have been so drawn to dresses. I love the Ikat print and color of this one. It’s fully lined and again, would be great for work or play.
I loved the colors and print on this top, and of course all the ruffle details. I am a complete sucker when it comes to a ruffle. This is a really lightweight cotton and will keep you nice and cool. You could easily pair this with black pants and even add a blazer for the office.
The white jeans are a relaxed fit, and I’m wearing a 4 that was plenty generous. I wondered if I could have even gone down a size.
This is another cute lightweight cotton top in a sweet print. It’s cute with the white jeans or the olive Bermuda shorts, and of course you could easily put it with denim. How do you feel about Bermuda shorts? I’m not really a huge fan, but I wanted to try them to see if I felt differently. I think part of the reason is because of my build. Being short and having thicker thighs, I don’t feel like they are the most flattering look for me. I think someone with longer legs could pull them off better.

A chambray top never seems to go out of style, and there is one similar to this style at various retailers every year. It has a little smocking around the top that adds a nice detail.

I think a little white linen top falls into the same category as the chambray, and will go with any and everything. I like the pleating detail on the front of this one.
The 4th of July is just around the corner and that means lots of cookouts and backyard BBQ’s. There are so many fun outdoor games for July 4th, and you can order them on Amazon to get them in time. These would be fun to have set up in stations around your yard, or some of them could easily be carried to a park if you’re gathering there.
I’ve seen several of these in use at the beach as well. Big kids/young adults and even older adults sometimes enjoy having something to do when spending an entire day on the beach.
GIANT WOODEN YARD DICE – You can play two games with these giant dice. Yardzee or Yardkle. HAHAHA!
YARD DARTS – Not only are these yard darts, they glow in the dark. Now personally, by the time it gets dark during the summer we’re already in our jammies, but if you like to walk on the wild side, these are for you. LOL
YARD CONNECT FOUR – Did you have Connect Four as a kid? I did, and I loved it. I think this would be fun, and even the littles could play.
BADMINTON – This looks like such an easy way to play Badminton. This game has been around forever. This net doesn’t require spikes, and I think that would keep it from sagging.
LADDER TOSS – We bought one of these years ago for Katie’s graduation party. I had played it somewhere and it was a lot of fun. We will be pulling this out the next time we have a gathering.
HORSESHOES – I haven’t played horseshoes in years, but I used to love it. Most kids these days have probably never heard of it. Let’s bring it back.
BOCCE BALL – The only time I’ve played this was at an Italian restaurant, but it was a lot of fun.
GIANT JENGA – Not gonna’ lie, this one scares me a little. We went to a party with a reallly giant one, and I was terrified it would fall on someone. I think this one is a slightly smaller scale, so probably a lot safer.
CORN HOLE – This is a crowd pleaser, and I see a lot of people who take them (in a wagon) out on the beach to play. Little kids love playing with the bean bags for this one.
Check out this post with red, white and blue looks to go with your new outdoor games for July 4th.
Or this post has more red, white and blue all American summer style that would be fantastic for the 4th.
