October is a HUGE month in our family.
In the course of 8 days we celebrate 2 birthdays and our anniversary.
Today Kent and I celebrate 24 years of marriage.

As we were out running errands yesterday I told him I’m so happy we still enjoy just being together. I think too often couples with kids get so wrapped up in their children they drift apart. In the last couple of years as Katie has gotten older and had her friends around, they apparently comment to her on mine and Kent’s relationship and that you can tell we really love each other. That’s the best compliment I think anyone could ever give us.
Friday I had a great day celebrating my birthday. I got calls from friends and family. I got to talk to both my kids. Packages were delivered. Facebook wishes. Texts.
Why can’t every day be my birthday?
One of the packages that arrived was from Benny and Katie.
You know when you open a box and see this inside it’s going to be GOOD!!!
Necklace options here, here, here and here
Katie knew I’d been wanting this necklace and so I was thrilled when I opened it, but I think I liked the enclosed “card” as much as the necklace.

Another package that arrived was from one of my friends who also knows me so well.
My very favorite candle and because she knows I love to cook a new kitchen toy and a new apron. I rarely cook without an apron these days and this one is too cute.
We went to dinner at one of our favorite seafood restaurants.

They have the best Calamari we’ve ever eaten and it’s delicious every single time. I’ve never had it with fried lemon slices and fried red jalapeno’s, but that’s how they serve it. Kent really likes the fried lemons.
Teriyaki Salmon Bowl for me.
Fish and Chips for Kent.
YUM!!!
And what better way to celebrate 24 years of marriage than shopping for pillows after dinner.
Kent was ecstatic!!!
In case you’re wondering what Katie was doing Friday night, she was learning to swing dance.
Get it girl!
Not a great quality picture, but they look they’re having so much fun!

Saturday we went to the mall becaus…returns.

Well you know I had to do some looking and trying on. Girls, if you aren’t a Loft card holder you should think about becoming one, if for no other reason, you get a birthday coupon and earn rewards. I had both a reward and my birthday coupon and got a steal of a deal on two adorable tops.
This sweater is darling. It’s Lou & Grey which is a line Loft carries and they now have free standing stores as well. A lot of times Lou & Grey items are excluded from Loft sales, but this weekend that wasn’t the case. HOORAY! It’s lightweight and absolutely perfect for when the seasons are changing. It has an adorable neckline and the slits on the sides make it hang nicely.
This tunic is so stinkin’ soft. You. will. want. one. It’s going to be the perfect travel piece, lounge piece, run around piece and on and on. If you like soft things, you’ve got to feel this and it will look good with leggings or jeans.
Last year I was seeing this Free People top on a lot of blogs. I kept looking at it longingly, but just never got it. Well this year it’s back and right now it’s on sale. Those of you who know me know those are two of my favorite words. I tried this on and fell in love. It a cross between a sweatshirt, a t-shirt and a tunic (kinda). I think it’s one of the most comfortable, coziest pieces you’ll ever find. I got the terracotta but I’ll be honest, I was really torn between it and the grey. I think the terracotta will go with everything from denim to black to army green to camo to brown. Yep, that’s a lot. This is selling out fast, so get it while you can.
Apparently we decided to go with a seafood theme this weekend because once we were finished with all our errands we had sushi for dinner.
Yes, this is why I love this man…he doesn’t take himself too seriously and loves to entertain me and the kids. This was a snapchat I sent to them.
We love us some crunchy rolls!!!
And last but not least…It’s the final countdown!
Four days! Four days!
That’s how long it is until we see our kids!!!
If you have kids in college then you know what I’m talking about. We are going to visit and celebrate Katie’s birthday. We haven’t seen them in six weeks which really doesn’t sound all that long, but it feels like forever. We are looking forward to spending time shopping, eating, meeting friends and just getting to see them.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend and your week is off to a grand start!
