Hi friends! Well I hope you had a wonderful weekend…however, if you are some of the unfortunate people up north who got pounded with over a foot of snow, I am so sorry! Seriously! After spending 3 winters in Minneapolis, which is one of the places that just can’t seem to catch a break, I totally get it. I remember we’d be getting snow flurries in the beginning of May and I’d tell Kent if it was still snowing in June…we’d be having to have a talk. LOL Hang in there y’all, spring is coming. I promise!
I decided to share a little this and that with y’all today. You know I’ve been singing the praises of my dipped nails for the last 6 months. Well when I went in last week I tried to find the numbers of the polishes I’ve had so far. I know for me it’s helpful when I can actually see a polish on someone. It’s so hard to look at that little plastic finger nail and tell how it’s going to look on your hand. I know the first one is right, but the others are an educated guess.?
You can see in the lower right corner how long I let my nails go before I go to have them redone. That is after 4 weeks, so I really stretch a manicure.
The first color I chose has been my favorite up until this last time I had them done. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this new pink color and just might keep it on all summer.
If you are getting shellac nails, you should really try the “SNS” dipped nails. I can’t say enough good things about mine and the girl who does them is excellent. I get 3 coats/dips because if I only get 2, I always crack at least one nail.
Apparently I was keenly aware this weekend that we are in fact empty nesters, because I found myself sharing our “empty nest” outings on Instastories. (Follow me on Instagram here).
For any of you who are going to be entering this stage of life in the next few years, let me just assure you that it will not be as bad or scary as you are fearing. We were terrified that we’d be so sad and lonely, and while we miss our kids with all our hearts and talk about them incessantly, it’s also fun to just do what we want when we want.
I tried one of my latest ipsy products on Saturday. A detoxifying hair mask. I washed my hair, and towel dried it. Then you apply this mask and let it sit for 5 minutes. It removes residue and impurities from the hair without removing the natural oils. I actually really like it. My hair seems to stay pretty damaged from the chemicals in our water and it felt much softer after this treatment, so I’d give it ????.
Saturday we got our invitation to the wedding. They are so beautiful. Erin’s grandmother is very talented and did the calligraphy on the invitation and all the envelopes…and notice the cool stamp. ❤️
Friday afternoon I went to Target and again, if you saw my Instastories (are you convinced you should be following me yet?) then you know I was excited to find “words” for my felt board. I’ve been seeing these all over the place and wondering where they were from. They come in different colors and themes and are only $2.99/pack. I bought the ‘farmhouse’ and ‘everyday’ packs. I also found these on Amazon.
They also had a great selection of the boards with different colors frames and backgrounds. Just FYI, these aren’t felt, they are a plastic-y material.
I was cruising the ends looking for bargains and found a bunch of nice towels on sale, so those came home with me too. I then felt like this when I got to the register.
Okay friends, that’s it. Time to get this week going. We leave Thursday for Nashville to go to a bridal shower for our future daughter-in-love. That’s how we truly feel about this sweet girl that we are adding to our family in SIX WEEKS!!!

I have no issues with spending Friday night that way, Lisa!!
And that hair mask sounds great—I always struggle with my hair, so it needs any help it can get!!
XOXO

Any Friday night that involves ice cream is A-OK with me. I was really surprised by the hair mask. I’m like you, always looking for something to help it out. Happy Monday! XO

LOVE your potpourri of goodness sweet friend! The wedding invites are so cool! One more year and we will be empty nesters, feels like it now as the youngest is gone ALL the time, like we have to go to his BB games just to see him, lol! My hair is damaged from all the blonde, lol, I’ll try that mask. You have a super sweet Monday darling!
Lisa Richardson says
Thanks friend! Really, the empty nest thing…not so bad?. I hear ya’ on the damaged hair. I’ve been using a flat iron FOR-EVER and never had such issues with damage until moving here, that’s why I really think it’s the water. I’m constantly doing some kind of treatment to try and combat the brittle ends. I can’t seem to grown it much because I’m always cutting the damage off. WHAAAA! Enjoy some of your TJ’s treats today. XOXO

I just love it when people use the term “son/daughter/mother-in-love.” Such a wonderful term of endearment! I’m going to look for those letterboard sets at Target – great find!
Lisa Richardson says
It’s so sweet…and especially if that’s how your truly feel, which we do. Hope you can find the letter board sets. I got my actual board at Hobby Lobby and like it better because it’s the felt instead of plastic. Happy Monday! XO

Six weeks!!!! Holy cow that came fast! I’ll bet they are so excited. Y’all too!!! I love the new pink on your nails, I’d wear it all Summer too! Your meme cracked me up – yes, I want all that crap for a dollar too!!! That letter sign is super cute, I jumped all over the blackboard trend a few years ago and my family rolled their eyes at me but I thought it was so fun. That frozen yogurt looks so good, I am craving something sweet now!!!
xo,
Kellyann
Lisa Richardson says
I love the blackboard stuff too. (still do). The wedding is screaming at us and I’m so happy for them. Hope your Monday is off to a great start!!! XOXO

I really want to try SNS once again – my nail lady is really great with my gel so I think she’d do a great job with dip nails!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

I just love how it doesn’t peel. My girl says it’s better for your nails too. You’ll definitely need to get it right before the baby comes??. XO
Allie Lee says
I need to find a good nail lady (and also need to stop picking my cuticles- ugh!) That meme is so funny and too true! I am definitely missing that Cartwheel Perks program from last year!
Lisa Richardson says
They are hard to come by. This girl is so sweet. I just found out she’s pregnant…I sure hope she doesn’t quit?. I doubt she will, but it scares me. I hardly ever go to Target anymore. Ours just isn’t that great. Would you believe my words are the same color as my felt. What an idiot. I thought my board had a white background. Back to Target I go…LOL
leaculp says
Oh, picking out polish is so hard so when I find a color I like I usually stay with it for that season. And, yes, the empty is truly a wonderful time. We’ve been empty nesters for 21 years and are still enjoying it. :o)) I’ve got to get a letter board, I think I would have such a good time with it. The wedding is just around the corner, what a special time. Happy week Lisa!
Lisa Richardson says
I know Lea, and the whole time she’s doing them I’m thinking “I sure hope I like this color”, especially since I go a month between. I’ll be excited to get to where you are in the empty nest life and have some sweet little grands to love on and do round two. Hope you had a wonderful Monday!! XO

I got my nails dipped over the summer and really liked it! I love having my nails done but I’ve been so lazy about doing them/getting them done lately. And I have a Target letter board too, but I ran out of letters when I initially tried to spell something. I need to crack open my second pack of letters!
Lisa Richardson says
I love that I can stretch them for so long. My board came with a ton of letters (I got it at Hobby Lobby). Today I was getting ready to bust open my new words and realized my board is BLACK felt. Aw, crud…now I’ve got to go back and get my words in a different color. What a goof ball!!!??
Lana L. says
I totally agree – empty nesting isn’t so bad! I feel like the anticipation was the worst part, and don’t even get me started about senior year of high school. I cried my way thorough the whole year! But now we’re having a blast, even though we miss them. So exciting that the wedding is so close! I know I have a while to go before the boys get married, but I can’t wait!
Lisa Richardson says
I cried all the way through Benny’s, and you would have thought Katie’s would have been even worse, but I was a champ and held it together. (if I do say so myself..LOL)
Mary says
This felt board thingy is alien to me, I’ve not seen this so am crossing fingers (not whilst typing, it’s metaphorical!) that you show pics soon. Please.
And those nail colours are tempting me to go get a shellac, I’m due my first of the year shortly AND I have a voucher from mother’s day, so Yipeee all round. Hugs my sweet friend, x.
Lisa Richardson says
Oh Mary, a free manicure is even better. I’d say if it’s from Mother’s Day it’s time to use it…you might get another one next month. HA! I’ll share the board soon. Have a wonderful day sweet friend! XO
Brooke says
My friend swears by dipped nails, but I haven’t tried them myself yet! I’m convince I need to. Only six weeks to go, that’s exciting! Sounds very close to my anniversary (June 2) 😀

May 26th is the big day. Honestly Brooke, I’m just so excited and in such disbelief all at the same time. They picked up their wedding bands the other day and sent a picture. It’s going to be so weird to see him wearing a WEDDING RING! It’s also going to be weird when they come home for Christmas and stay in the same room…lol. Maybe I should get bunk beds in there?! HAHAHA! Go get the dipped nails! I don’t know if you go into Short Pump for your nails, but I went to New Lady (by the Regal Cinemas) for YEARS. My girl left there, but I’m sure there are others that would do a good job. Happy Tuesday! XO
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom says
I was just at Target recently and didn’t see these felt boards! I have one already, I wonder if those letters would work with mine? I guess I could always get them and return them if they don’t. I would love some Farmhouse style fonts! I think when we are empty nesters someday, I will be sad, but I’ll also love having more date nights with my husband and also some time to explore some of my hobbies/interests again. My kids better be good about texting me regularly, tho! ha!! I love that pink nail color and your nails just look so pretty!!

I realized when I got ready to use the words yesterday that my board was BLACK…just like the words I bought. LOL Story of my life. I went back yesterday and they had sold a ton of them, but I got a light blueish pack. I’ll msg you when I open them later today and let you know how they do. You and Autumn will probably text and snapchat a lot (if that’s still a thing when she leaves…probably be something new by then) Life’s a journey and we are getting ready for a pretty big adventure in ours. Next up…grandbabies? But this mama is not going to put any pressure on those kids…it’ll happen when their ready❤️ (and I’ll be there with all the FREE babysitting they could ever want.HA!)
Shelly @ The Queen in Between says
Those words are so fun! I need to find some of those….I have only used my board one time. And I’m totally blown away by her granma’s calligraphy!!!
