It’s time for some new looks from Talbot’s with red pants. I bet a lot of you might be afraid to commit to red. I know I have been, but after seeing all the things you can do with them, you might feel differently. I do. I ran by the mall Friday and popped in to Talbot’s to see what was new. The colors are beautiful, and the styles are classic. Talbot’s does classic so well. You can shop and know that you’ll still be able to wear the things you purchase from year to year.
FIT TIP: Before I start, let me say that this pair of pants are a size 6…my normal size, but they seem to run a little big. I needed to either do a 6P or a 4 regular. I think the 6P would be best, because I had to turn the hem on these up about 3 inches.
This is the second retailer I’ve seen and tried on a ruffle neck sweater like this. It’s super cute and comes in a variety of colors. The cream sweater and red pants are striking on their own, but think of all the ways you could layer these. Here are just a couple of ideas to get you started.
- Denim jacket
- Black blazer (USE FROST20 for 20% off)
- Camel coat/blazer
- Tweed jacket (keep reading😉)
- Cream or black vest
This jacket is beautiful. It works great over the ruffle neck sweater. I LOVE the color combination of red and purple. (If your mom is a member of the Red Hat Society, this would make the perfect gift for her.) You can dress this jacket up with any number of things from velvet or satin pants, to a pair of work pants or a skirt. That’s a lot of bang for your buck.
Switched out the cream for another good staple. A gray and cream ribbed turtleneck. I love this style turtleneck because it can stand on it’s own or makes a great layering piece.
There’s nothing quite like a classic plaid shirt. This one is a cotton than not a flannel, so more of a polished look.
I love a good vest. This one is a little longer and it’s has an elastic gather in the back for a little shape. This one would work really well with leggings too since it’s a longer length. You’ll see this vest layers over a lot of looks.
The red pants (which I failed to mention are cords) look good paired with this black fair isle sweater. I find Talbot’s sweater to be longer in length, so you can wear them down, tucked, or if you prefer them shorter, maybe try a petite. This one is nice and soft.
And with the vest. Are you seeing how versatile these pieces are? You could really do a capsule wardrobe with these if you wanted. I also tried most of the pieces on with black pants, but I’ll share those later or possibly in stories today to keep this post from getting to long.
