Hey friends! Thanks for stopping by today. I’m joining the ladies of the Ageless Style Link up for our monthly post.
The Ageless Style Link-Up – The first Tuesday of every month ten over 40 bloggers present a different style theme and show a myriad of ways to wear it, all the while proving you can still be fashionable and on trend over 40 and beyond.
This month Jonet chose our prompt and decided on maxi dresses. As luck would have it, I had a brand new one I was dying to share hanging right there in my closet ready to make its debut. This maxi is really probably supposed to be a midi but on someone who falls into the petite category it looks more maxi than midi. While we’re on the subject, does anyone else feel like they are speaking in some kind of funny fashion code when using works like mini, maxi and midi? #fourletterwords I don’t know about you, but last year I felt like maxi’s were kind of dying out and falling of the fashion radar, but it seems like this spring they are fighting their way back to the forefront.
I already had a black and white gingham dress when I found this one, but then I thought, “can you really have too much gingham?” The conclusion I came to was no, so home with me it came. I have to admit it took me a little while to get on the gingham bandwagon, it made me feel a little “Hee-Haw” or “Holly Hobby”, but once I bought my first piece I was smitten and wanted all the gingham. Now I’ve just got to branch out and start getting other colors.
Maxi’s can be a closet staple and lend themselves to being worn multiple ways. They can be worn with heels or flats depending on the length. If you have a maxi that’s too long, throw on some wedges, if it’s just right, then flat sandals will be your answer. One of the things I really love about a maxi {besides the feeling of freedom} is the way they can be dressed up or down. A maxi dress can be as dressy or as casual as you make it. While I wore a chunkier wedge for a casual feel with this one I could just as easily put a block heel sandal with it and dress it up a little more.

One of my favorite things to pair with gingham is a touch of leopard. I added a leopard clutch and fun statement earrings to round out the look. With a big pair of earrings not much else is needed as far as jewelry goes. This pair of earrings have quickly become regulars in my spring and summer looks, and every time I wear them I get loads of compliments. They make quite the impact and aren’t heavy like you’d expect they might be. If you’re worried that you can’t wear big earrings, I can’t encourage you enough to cast your fears aside and do it. I think you’ll love it. #trustme

Girl, I’m the same way with length of dresses, pants, whatever! I’m only 5’3″ so most everything is too long for me. Thank goodness my mother sews and can hem things for me. I love the dress, love the splash of leopard, and no, you can never have too much gingham!

Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom says
I seriously love that photo of you and your daughter. I really hope Autumn would match with me someday, since I do hope to be a trendy mom! Ha!! I just got the b/w gingham dress from Hello Sugarplum’s new line at Nordstrom (for a blog collab, didn’t buy it straight out!) and I can’t wait to share it soon on the blog. It seems b/w gingham is BIG in dresses this summer! I know I’ll be wearing it nonstop! I love those fun statement earrings for a little color and I still need to get a leopard clutch like yours, they just seem so versatile.
