Happy Tuesday and welcome to the February edition of our Ageless Style link up of 2019, where the first Tuesday of every month ten over 40 bloggers present a different style theme and show a myriad of ways to wear it, all the while proving you can still be fashionable and on trend over 40 and beyond.
This month Jodie is the brains behind our prompt of puffer vests. Truth be told, a puffer vest is one of my favorite winter accessories. Truth also be told, I think we might all be starting to have a little spring fever and it feels funny to be talking about cold weather outerwear.
Having said that, it’s also true that a puffer vest is the perfect transition piece. I mean seriously, it’s not a coat, but warmer than a sweater. I’ve told y’all before that I rarely have the opportunity or need for a coat where I live, but I do wear vests A LOT. Case in point, this post from last week.
I think this red one was my first one. Vests are really great when the temps may have a big swing. You can stay warm but won’t get too terribly hot when they rise.
This white one was a gift and I adore it. I was initially worried I’d have a hard time keeping it clean, but honestly, it hasn’t been a problem. This is an Old Navy puffer vest and they have some version of it every year. You know what that means? That means they stand the test of time. Adding a monogram like on this one really takes it up a notch.
This is a Loft vest. Slightly less puffy than the Old Navy version, but still warm.
I wish I had a close up of this vest. It’s a beautiful plum color but that’s not what makes it special. It’s really thin and you can roll it up into a little bag.
Mine is from Costco a few years ago, but Uniqlo carries one very similar and currently on sale for $10 off and free shipping through tomorrow. It comes in 13 colors and 3 of them are even $20 off.
So let’s recap: 1. Great weight 2. Available in 13 colors. 3. Very packable and easy to carry when you are out and get to warm 4. $10 (maybe $20) off and free shipping through tomorrow.
My black vest gets called into action most frequently. I bought it at the Banana Republic Factory store a few years ago (are seeing a trend?). It has a removable fur trimmed hood (which is so cute), but I keep it off. They have the same vest in one color left this season in a medium here.
So I hope I’ve convinced you that if you don’t already have a vest or two in your closet, you should change that…soon. ?
Every month we invite a blogger friend to join us as a co-host and Lana from My New Happy agreed to join us for February.
Lana is an empty nester just like me. We are both finding our way in the next stage of our lives and doing a pretty darn good job if I do say so myself. You can find Lana’s blog here and her social media links below.

Girl!! I’m so in awe that you have so many puffer vests. And I was worried that not everyone would have this item. Silly me!! In fact, I had to pin this because it goes to show how classic they are. You’ve worn so many different versions, that it makes me want to buy a couple more.
Just recently I took off the sleeves of a lightweight puffer coat to make it a vest. I wasn’t wearing the coat, so I’m hoping I get more use out of the vest. Because here in Denver, spring won’t be here until May (and we usually get snow on Mother’s day)….kinda makes you want to move here, eh?
But I can layer the vest over a jacket now. Hah…something you probably never have to consider!!!
XOXO

You probably don’t know this, but we lived in Minneapolis the 3 years prior to moving to CA, so I totally get it!!!! Kent watches the weather there all the time and we just shake our heads. I’ve developed this collection since moving here. They are just perfect for our weather. Cutting the sleeves off a coat is genius. Way to go. Have a great day! Thanks for the prompt. XOXO

I’m going to throw up my hands in defeat! I don’t and never have owned a puffer vest. I tried on a couple this year at the consignment store, but they didn’t fit right. When cold weather swings around again, I’ll take another look. You sure look adorable in all of yours.
Lisa Richardson says
You’re so sweet! I bet you look better than you think? I also bet they will be awesome in TX weather. XO
Vanessa Roberts says
All your puffer outfits are great! I have quite a few, but I swear the weather in Ohio goes from too hot to too cold before I ever have a chance to wear them ☹️

Hey, I’m over 40 and always can use some style tips! I have two puffer vests but I feel like they are too puffy! I kind of want a fleece, lighter version for fashion purposes!

My daughter got a Patagonia fleece and is loving it. XO
