Hey friends! Happiest of Monday’s to you! How was your weekend? Ours? Delightful! I thought today I’d do a little life lately post in the form of a weekend review and share what all we did this past weekend.
If you are a regular here at Coast to Coast then you know I’m in Nashville, and Kent was here for the weekend. We had a lot of fun things to do and celebrate. I shared when I could remember on my Insta-stories, so if you follow me on Instagram and happen to be a story watcher, this might be old news. On a side note, the Mother’s Day Giveaway is still live until May 10th, so make sure you enter at the bottom of the post.
Friday during the day, Kent and I had some time to ourselves to just goof off, so we played tourist a little, but not before taking Erin (our daughter-in-law) a treat at work. Katie was in class and Benny works too far away to just breeze into his office. I did take a picture and it’s blurry, but still cute.
I took Kent to an area called 12 South. He’d only been there to eat and never really explored it. Naturally I had to hit a few murals. I mean after all, “When in Rome”. If you go to Nashville and don’t take a picture with a mural, were you really even there? And if you’re a blogger and don’t, then your entire identity is called into question. LOL
We stopped into Jeni’s ice cream and shared in a little afternoon treat. I highly recommend the Gooey Butter Cake and Buttered Almond Brittle
For dinner, we met our peeps at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We have to get a good Mexican fix whenever we go to Nashville or Richmond. The Mexican restaurants in California are not at all what we’re used to and in our opinion are lacking…mostly in the queso department. Yep, when you ask for queso aka cheese dip, they look at you like you have 3 heads. What the heck??? After dinner I was so proud I remembered to take a picture of us all together. The struggle is real y’all.
This was a cah-razy weekend to be in Nashville. Not only was it the marathon, but you may have heard the NFL Draft was in town.? The main drag in downtown was all blocked off and was one big party. Our friends live a little over 3 miles from downtown, so we walked down Friday night to check it out. We had to do it…we may never have that opportunity again.
Saturday we were up and at em’ bright and early for Benny to run the Rock-n-Roll marathon. He was planning to run the entire thing until a few weeks ago when his leg started bothering him, so he ended up just running the half. He did so AWESOME!!! Ranked in the top 2%. We are so proud and excited for him. Oh and did I mention it was his 24th birthday. What a great way to celebrate. We were able to catch him in two different spots and cheer him on.
Saturday night we went to one of Benny’s favorite BBQ restaurants and some of friends that lived in Richmond with us 10 years ago were able to join us. We had the best time catching up with them.
We went back to our friends and had the requested birthday dessert of Chocolate Brownie Trifle.
Sunday I got to see two of my besties at church and again…so proud that I thought to grab a quick picture. #becomingalegitblogger My jumpsuit made another appearance and got rave reviews.
That’s it for photo documentation, so I won’t bore you with all the words about the rest of the day, but let’s just say there was lunch and dinner with my kiddos and that makes for a pretty perfect Sunday.
If you’re new here, WELCOME and THANK YOU for stopping by. I hope you’ll subscribe to receive posts by email. Just scroll back up to the top and fill in the box on the left above my picture. What a wonderful weekend! First of all, no queso at a Mexican restaurant…that’s insanity. I can’t even imagine. When we were in the UK, there was ONE good Mex restaurant downtown and we went there often to get a fix! Your family is just so sweet, and it makes me happy to think about what fun we might have too in that young adult phase.
Lisa Richardson says
You are exactly right! It is insanity. I’ve eaten Mexican 3 times on this trip. LOL Thank you for the sweet words about our family. I feel sure you will get to enjoy the same fun. I can tell just by reading your blog. It’s really special and we are blessed!

Wowzers! Top 2% for the half marathon, yes please! I have ran one marathon and I was pretty sure I was done after I crossed the finish line. But, man do I miss my running friends that I trained with for that sucker for months. Man, that dessert looks so, so good. And, bringing someone a treat at work? THat’s just so kind! I am sure your daughter-in-law knows she struck out in the MIL department!

You’re so sweet Carrie! She’s such a sweetie! We had the best weekend and were so proud of Benny. Kent ran one marathon and had to quit running a few years ago due to hip/foot issues and he was talking about how much he missed it while we were watching Benny. Hope your week is going great!

SO TRUE about the murals, hahaha. If you’re not constantly on the lookout for a cute background for an outfit pic, do you even really blog? 😀 It looks like you guys had the best time in Nashville! PS: If you’re ever in PA, you can visit me at work any time! 😉
Lisa Richardson says
Well you’d better believe if I’m ever in PA I’ll be visiting you at work?❤️
