The Perfect Black Dress and Style Six Link Up

Hi friends!!! I-AM-BACK! Woohoo!!! It feels like I have been so out of touch for the last 2 weeks, but I’m back, and I’ve got a fresh post. The perfect black dress & Style Six link up. Who doesn’t need one (or ten) little black dress in their arsenal. Black dresses are no longer pigeon-holed for funerals. As a matter of fact, now black dresses are being worn to and even in weddings. I think I actually managed to come in on the front of that trend when I got married. I had my bridesmaids wear black and white, and at that point I didn’t know anyone who’d “gone there”.

This is the first midi-dress I’ve purchased and I’ve gotta’ say, I really like it. For women over 40, it’s nice to have the option of some longer lengths.

You know how I feel about softness. #softiskey I am a fan. This dress is ribbed, and the fabric is super soft. The belt is detachable, and I’m so sorry I didn’t think to take a picture outside without it, but here is a selfie without the belt.

You can see the dress has a slight shape and is generous through the hips. #hallelujah

I purchased this cardigan during the NSale this summer. I love the boxy feel and that you can dress it up or down. It looks cute with the perfect black dress, but equally as cute with black leggings. Roll the sleeves up, or leave them down. It’s really a versatile piece that I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of. I think it will be perfect for travel too. Both the dress and the sweater are perfect closet staples and the sweater is now 40% off and comes in 6 colors. The cardigan runs big, so I suggest sizing down.

I just got these black sock booties. It takes me a while to get on trends like booties with dresses, and honestly…I’m still not sure about it, but I’m trying. As for the booties themselves, they’re great. The heel height is perfect. Yes, perfect. Not too high, not too low, and the ankle is the same. Not too tight, not to loose.

Let’s talk for a few seconds about my new necklace. Katie and I hit Kendra Scott Sunday for our birthday discounts and this is what I got. I love the layered look without having to fuss with putting on three separate necklaces, and even better, it’s adjustable and can also be worn long. The toggle type clasp makes adjusting the length an absolute breeze.
