You may be wondering what the title of this post is all about. Well I thought with a new year, it would be the perfect time for a little reintroduction. So Happy New Year, nice to meet you seemed like the perfect title.
When I begin reading a blog and I’m not familiar with it, I often go poking around trying to figure out the bloggers back story. Sometimes that leads to nada. HA! I want to know more about this person. Well, some of you are new around here, and I’m thrilled by that. Some of you are old friends and I love that! Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments at the end of the post so we can get to know each other. Here are a few things you might not know about me.
I’ve been married to my other half for 27 years. He is the yin to my yang, and we are a great pair. We have two wonderful children, and a precious daughter-in-love. (I love that term instead of daughter-in-law) We truly love her as if she was ours. Our son is an engineer and lives in Nashville, and our daughter is a senior in college (also in Nashville). She will graduate in May and start PA (Physician’s Assistant) school 3 weeks later.
Where was I born? Richmond, Virginia. I was born and raised in Richmond. We were lucky enough to live there until 10 years ago. Fun fact: my children were born in the same hospital I was born in. That was so fun for my mom and dad.
I have one brother and we are only 13 1/2 months apart. Therefore, I never knew life without him and we’ve always been close. We are very blessed to still have both of our parents and we are an extremely close knit family.
I attended the same church in Richmond from the time I was 2 weeks old, until we left Richmond. That means it was also the same church my kids attended and we were all 3 baptized in that church. My husband and I met there and were married there, so you can guess this church was a HUGE part of my life.
I have a degree in Advertising with an emphasis in Art. I have never worked in this field, because I was blessed to be able to stay home and raise our children. This was a priority to both Kent and myself and something I always wanted to do. I attended college in Nashville, and my kids have both gone to the same school. That’s pretty cool.
10 years ago we left Richmond and moved to Minneapolis for my husbands job. We lived there for 3 winters. HA! Yes, that’s how you measure time there. We moved to California in 2013. Both of these are places I would have never ever thought I’d live. LOL Proof you never know where life will take you. Our current plan is to be here until my husband retires and then move to Nashville where we have a wonderful group of friends, and of course be near our children.
How did I start blogging? I’ve always been somewhat of an entrepreneur and had little side gigs, from my own jewelry business, to Southern Living Consultant and now the blog as well as a Rodan + Fields business.
The blog was born when I had started reading blogs and started thinking of things in terms of “this would make a great blog post”. The hardest part was coming up with a name. Coast to Coast seemed perfect since that was what had transpired in our lives.
By far the biggest blessing that has come out of this is the friendships. I now have friends all over the place. Some I’ve met, and some I hope to. It’s really funny to feel like you know people so well that you’ve never actually met, and when talking I have to make the differentiation of real life friend, or blog friend.
If you’ve been around here anytime at all, you know I’ve found my blogging tribe. Trust me when I tell you that if you’d told me 5 years ago I’d meet 5 other women that I didn’t really know and spend a weekend with them, I’d have looked at you like you had two heads. Now we’ve done this twice and have every intention of making it yearly. We are just the best friends and wonderful support for each other. You can read about our first meet up HERE, and our second one HERE.
So there’s the Reader’s Digest condensed version of my life. If there’s something you still want to know, just ask. Anyone who knows me well will tell you, I’m an open book. I cannot tell a lie and I have no poker face. LOL I guess these are good virtues to have. I love that you are here and come back to see what I have to share. Let me know what you like and want more of. Coming up with content can be hard and I’m happy to have suggestions from you. After all, you’re why I do what I do.
I wish for you a wonderful New Year, blessed with health, happiness and all the good things. So one last time I say, Happy New Year, nice to meet you.

I have been enjoying your blog for quite a while but never posted (I don’t think.) I live in Alabama but have lived in a number of places due to my husbands ministry moves. We have grown children and grandchildren living all over the world (some are missionaries.) It seems you fly frequently. In fact we were in Hawaii at the same time. One daughter lives there and my husband performed her wedding. Does your husband work for the airlines by any chance or do you have any tips on saving money on flights?
Lisa Richardson says
Hi Debbie! So sorry it’s taken me so long to respond. Since it was your first time commenting it pulled the comment to a different area that I missed. No, he doesn’t work for the airlines. We are blessed to be able to travel and since our families aren’t near by, we do it a lot…especially me. ?We’ve also been lucky to get Southwest companion passes a couple of years. That was so awesome. We fly Southwest 99% of the time. They seem to have the best prices and run a direct from here to Nashville once a day. Thanks for commenting, I hope you’ll do more of it. XOXO

Wow, that’s a lot of history in one place. Nashville sounds like a great place to “retire.” California must have been a *huge* adjustment!

I’m so proud of you for really following this thing through. I remember being with you when you were still tossing the idea around and it makes me so proud to see how much it’s blossomed! I know California wasn’t in your plans, but I’m eternally grateful it happened! You and your family are such a blessing in our lives and a friendship we will always hold dear. So proud of you! <3
Lisa Richardson says
Aw, thank you so much. Who would have ever figure it? Not me. You are one of my California blessing too! Love you!!!
Leslie Clingan says
Glad to know more about YOU. I agree, I always snoop around to try to learn more about the bloggers as I start following them. I don’t really know why because I can never remember where everyone lives…and I want to be able to keep that straight, at least!! Nashville is a great place to live. My niece is in Memphis but would like to get to Nashville. My nephew would like to graduate in May and go to Nashville. Bustling southern city.
Lisa Richardson says
HA! Same about remembering where everyone lives. Nashville is awesome. I’m going in a few weeks to visit my kids. ❤️
