Hi guys! What a week! If this is fall rolling in, it can just roll right back out. I demand a refund #onallof2020 You probably know we here in California are living in the midst of a bunch of fires, and the sky has been so weird looking, and the air quality is terrible. So we’ve been stuck inside most of the week. We just can’t seem to catch a break. However, no matter how bad things may seem for all of us right now, I think it’s important to take a few minutes to reflect on what happened on this day 19 years ago. Dare I say, most of us probably remember that day vividly. Where you were, what you were doing, and how you felt.
I’ve recently totally revamped my makeup, and today I’m sharing all the new products that have fast become favorites.
But before we get to that, I’ve just got to share a picture I took Wednesday morning around 10 AM. It looked like this alllll day. It was the weirdest, most eerie day I think I’ve seen. All day it looked more like evening. I ran to Target and there was ash falling in the air that you could see on the cars. So gross!
Now for my new makeup.
Too Faced Hangover Primer – So what’s a primer do? A primer creates a smooth, long-lasting base for your makeup, and also comes in handy when you just want to blur imperfections and control shine. I feel like this new one really gives my makeup a head start, and that it wears better. It has a very light smell, and absorbs quickly.
Tarte Shape Tape – I haven’t been using any kind of foundation this summer, instead I switched over to using Shape Tape under my eyes, on the lids, my lips, down the bridge of my nose, and on a few dark spots. I’m using the shade light medium sand for this. Then I’m also using a lighter shade light sand, right under my eyes to brighten them a little.
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder – (not pictured) I got a very small trial size of this and use it to set my Shape Tape. It works beautifully, and I plan to purchase a full size.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – I’ve been a bronzer user for years, and when I ran out I decided to try a new one. Let’s just say, love it! It’s shade Bronzer, and it’s the perfect amount of color. I apply it with a large brush all over my face after I finish with the shape tape.
Nars Blush – This blush seriously has a cult following, and I’ve been toying with trying it for what seems like a sweet forever. Well I finally caved and bought it. Honestly, one of the things holding me back was the color name…orgasm. Seriously? Don’t you think they could have come up with a better name? Stupid name or not, the stuff is good. The color is a gorgeous, natural flush to your cheeks. #imafan
Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Powder in Glow – So I actually thought I was getting the regular translucent powder when I purchased this, but it really does have a “glow” to it. I use it sparingly all over, and it provides a beautiful, healthy glow. I think this is what might be getting me compliments on Instagram. If it’s not this one….it’s this one??
Laura Mercier Highlighter – Color Highlight 01. This is just a very subtle highlight that I apply after the glow on my cheeks, nose and temples. I also use it on my brow bones, and in the corner of my eyes to brighten.
Tartlette In Bloom Eyeshadow Palette – Another product that appears to have a cult following, so you know I had to try it. The colors are pretty and fairly neutral with a good mix of shimmers and matte colors.
Nars Eyebrow Pencil – I really like this brow pencil. It goes on easily, lasts well, and looks very natural. My brows are sparse and light, and I don’t think they look “drawn on” when I use this. I use the color Calimyrna – Blonde Warm.
Surfer Curl Mascara – After swearing by the same mascara for the last 10+ years, I decided to give this one a shot. I’d seen several people singing it’s praises, so I figured why not. I’m happy to report I really like it. I actually really, really like it. My old mascara had a primer step, and I don’t do that now, so it cuts down on time. It also washes off with just my face wash at night, so it’s easy to remove.
Tarte Quick Dry Matte Lip – I ordered two of these during one of the recent sales. Love them! I’m using them together. I use Festival first all over my lips, and then Salty just kind of in the center of my bottom lip and the top for a highlight. These wear incredibly well, and don’t dry your lips out. #score
So there you have it. My Friday Favorites Makeup Edition. I looove finding new makeup through friends, and I hope you do too. Here’s to a good weekend, and hoping we can leave the house. Fingers crossed.

That picture of the sky is so surreal, it almost looks apocalyptic! And also surreal to believe today has been 19 years since one of the worst in our world history! Love all the make up you shared, I will forever be a physicians formula bronzer girl and I am loving Laura Mercier products. Have a great weekend my sweet friend, we will all miss Being in Cali with you! xo

I have been thinking of your every time I see the skies in California…crazy! That Tarte eye shadow palette is everywhere right now…must be good. Have a good weekend!
Lisa Richardson says
It’s so gross out here. I’m done! HA! That’s why I had to buy the palette…peer pressure. LOL It is good, but I wish it had more shimmer in it. I like it better than matte. XOXO
Heather Bramlett says
That is such a eerie picture. Praying for all of y’all! Love the makeup colors!
Lisa Richardson says
Thank you, Heather! I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to go outside again. UGH. I sure wish it would rain. XO
Laura says
I just have to use mascara that washes off with my cleanser. I hate having an extra step with eye makeup remover!
Lisa Richardson says
That’s exactly how I feel, Laura. I also have to wash my face almost as soon as we eat dinner, so I don’t dread it. HA!
