Hi friends! Happy Friday! Today I’ve got something fun to share with you. Learning to make beautiful sugar cookies. It’s not my typical Friday Favorites post, but something I think you might be interested in. I have been making decorated sugar cookies for years and years, and love the creativity it allows me, and then there’s the bonus of having yummy cookies to eat. I have a Pinterest board with all kinds of decorating inspiration, and I have a recipe I’ve used a sweet forever. (Get it, a sweet forever?) I love this recipe, and it tastes delicious, but they spread slightly. I started following different cookiers on Instagram for tips and tricks, and found one in Nashville. Her name is Summer and she makes beautiful cookies and offers in person classes. I really wanted to take one, but they never coincided with my visits. Then what do you know, she started offering what she calls a “Cookie Academy” online. I’ll be perfectly honest. The main reason I decided to purchase her program was to get access to her cookie recipe and frosting recipe. Both of these are included in the price of the Cookie Academy, but she also has gives a lot of good tips, so I figured it was a win-win. Whether you’re a somewhat experienced cookie decorator like me, or a complete novice, this is a great way to learn.
Summer has videos for both recipes and decorating tips. I purchased it during the beginning days of lockdown, and Katie and I worked our way through the videos together. It was a lot of fun.
She is also adding a new CHOCOLATE SUGAR COOKE RECIPE to this release of her Cookie Academy. As a member, I will also get access to this, and I couldn’t be more excited.
She only opens up enrollment a few times a year, and today marks one of those times. This is also the first time she is allowing people to be “affiliates” for her classes, so you know I was all over that. I mean when you find something you really love, you naturally want to share it.
After 11 years in the Cookie Business, Summer shares all you secrets with you in this course, including her signature sugar cookie recipe, royal icing recipe and her BRAND NEW chocolate sugar cookie recipe. Summer not only shows you how to make beautiful cookies from start to finish but also how to sell them!
I’ve already told my kids, I want to be the “Mimi” who makes beautiful sugar cookies. I can make them for all the birthday parties and family celebrations.
Here are some of the supplies I have, and you might want to get if you are interested in signing up for the class…or even if you aren’t signing up, but want to make cookies.
Have you ever taken a class like this? Are you a fan of making decorated sugar cookies? Y’all know I’m a chocoholic, but I do love a good sugar cookie, and of course now that I’m going to be able to make a chocolate version, I can’t wait.
I hope y’all have a great weekend!!! See you back here Monday!
