There are certain prints that are classic and never go out of style, Plaid jacquard is one of those, and it’s one of the new plaid styles from Spanx. I got a pair of wide leg pants and the cutest skort in this new plaid, and I just love them. They are black and white, so you can pair them with almost any color that tickles your fancy.
The Perfect Wide Leg Pants
Spanx has an entire line called the Perfect collection, and they are as close to perfect as you can come. The material is substantial without being stiff, and as you would expect from Spanx, it’s smoothing. OH! Don’t forget I have a discount code that gets you 10% off at Spanx anytime! Use LISAXSPANX I’m wearing a petite medium in these pants. The length is perfect for about a 1 1/2″-2″ heel, and the rise is definitely more of a mid-rise than the high-rises we’ve been seeing which makes tucking in a shirt more proportioned,
The blouse is from Gibsonlook and comes in several colors. It’s cute on it’s own or layered under a blazer.
I’m loving my new bag from Brahmin. It holds just the right amount of stuff, can be worn crossbody, as a shoulder bag, or double the strap like I have in this picture. This is one of those bags that will be timeless. I love adding pieces like that to my accessories collection.
And of course I want to point out the necklace! It’s a beautiful piece from Julie Vos that makes a gorgeous statement. These pieces are great to ask for as gifts. They hold up beautifully and can really make an outfit.
This blazer is also from Spanx. It’s called the Perfect Oversized Blazer, and again the name is spot on. This blazer is for sure oversized. I’m wearing a small, and an XS would fit much better. I did the ponytail on the sleeves trick to keep them up and help the jacket not overpower my frame. This would be such a great addition to a work wardrobe, but also can be worn with a pair of jeans for a casual look.
The Perfect Mini Skirt in Plaid Jacquard
I loved this skirt the minute I saw it in an email. You know I’m not a huge fan of my legs, but this summer due in part to encouragement from you❤️, and working out with weights on my legs, I’ve become a little more comfortable in shorts and shorter dresses. This skirt is just adorable, and guess what? It has shorts built in underneath, so no worries of indecent exposure. I’m wearing a medium and the fit is spot on.
I paired if first with this black bodysuit, also from Spanx, and a statement necklace from Julie Vos. The black cap toe shoes are really popular right now, and they’re very classic. Mine are several years old from Express and I really wish they’d bring them back.
I just got this new sweater from Avara, and I love it. I had it in white from a few years ago, but I had worn it so much, it was looking ratty. These sweaters are super soft and so good for this time of year when the weather can be all over the place, My Avara code is COAST15 if you want to grab one of these for yourself.
When the temperatures really cool off, you can easily wear a pair of black tights with this skirt and it will look adorable.
SHOP THESE PLAID STYLES FROM SPANX
The 4th of July is just around the corner and that means lots of cookouts and backyard BBQ’s. There are so many fun outdoor games for July 4th, and you can order them on Amazon to get them in time. These would be fun to have set up in stations around your yard, or some of them could easily be carried to a park if you’re gathering there.
I’ve seen several of these in use at the beach as well. Big kids/young adults and even older adults sometimes enjoy having something to do when spending an entire day on the beach.
GIANT WOODEN YARD DICE – You can play two games with these giant dice. Yardzee or Yardkle. HAHAHA!
YARD DARTS – Not only are these yard darts, they glow in the dark. Now personally, by the time it gets dark during the summer we’re already in our jammies, but if you like to walk on the wild side, these are for you. LOL
YARD CONNECT FOUR – Did you have Connect Four as a kid? I did, and I loved it. I think this would be fun, and even the littles could play.
BADMINTON – This looks like such an easy way to play Badminton. This game has been around forever. This net doesn’t require spikes, and I think that would keep it from sagging.
LADDER TOSS – We bought one of these years ago for Katie’s graduation party. I had played it somewhere and it was a lot of fun. We will be pulling this out the next time we have a gathering.
HORSESHOES – I haven’t played horseshoes in years, but I used to love it. Most kids these days have probably never heard of it. Let’s bring it back.
BOCCE BALL – The only time I’ve played this was at an Italian restaurant, but it was a lot of fun.
GIANT JENGA – Not gonna’ lie, this one scares me a little. We went to a party with a reallly giant one, and I was terrified it would fall on someone. I think this one is a slightly smaller scale, so probably a lot safer.
CORN HOLE – This is a crowd pleaser, and I see a lot of people who take them (in a wagon) out on the beach to play. Little kids love playing with the bean bags for this one.
Check out this post with red, white and blue looks to go with your new outdoor games for July 4th.
Or this post has more red, white and blue all American summer style that would be fantastic for the 4th.
