Happy Monday friends. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day. It’s really not the same when your kids aren’t at home anymore, but I got to talk to both of them and they sent me a beautiful Kendra Scott necklace. If I had to guess, I bet Kendra Scott is a very popular Mother’s Day gift. I know Katie said her boyfriend and his sister gave their mom a KS necklace too.
So let’s talk about camo. Do you have it and do you like it? If you don’t have any, what are your feelings about it? I think camo is something that can be intimidating to wear at first, but once you get past the intimidation you’ll love it. I feel the same about camo as I do leopard print {that you know I love}. I love it. I’m still not 100% sure it’s as versatile as leopard, but I do believe you can wear it with a lot more than you probably think you can. While I’m not sure about print mixing with camo the way I do with leopard and say gingham, I think mixing camo with a different texture is a great way to change it up.
These camo jeans are from our favorite line at Old Navy, Rockstar jeans. They have the perfect amount of stretch and don’t bag out in the knees or behind. #lovethat They are ankle length which means on my almost 5’3″ frame they are the perfect regular length and the hems are unfinished. I love my jeans that have the frayed hem. By the way, I’d just gone outside to take these pictures and Katie called. I told her I was taking pictures while we were talking and we both got a chuckle out of that.
Mixing camo with a different texture, like eyelet is a great way to add visual interest to an outfit. #likecamoisntinterestingenough This little eyelet top from LOFT is so cute and will be perfect with pretty much any pair of pants you pull out of your lineup.
Last summer I finally broke down and gave in and ordered the Tory Burch Miller sandals. I swear I’d been wanting them for at least 2 years and just couldn’t justify the price. Well I finally just did it and I haven’t regretted it for a single second. They are comfortable and go with jeans, little dresses, shorts, you name it.
I’ve been on a bit of a jewelry binge here of late and one of my most recent additions is the cork Nickel & Suede earrings I’m wearing. (these are the medium size) I love that these earrings make a statement without stretching my ear lobes. Not only are heavy earrings not comfortable but I don’t like the effect it has on my ‘holes’. These earrings are the bomb. Not even kidding. The only other thing needed to round out this outfit was another one of my favorite pieces, my Elisa Kendra Scott necklace that was also a gift from my sweet kids.
I love the cork earrings with the eyelet for yet another mix of textures.
If you don’t have any camo yet, have I got you convinced to give it a try? If you’re unsure, start small with a tee or maybe the camo earrings from N&S which are on my wishlist.?

This is such a pretty combination, eyelet and camo are so pretty together! Love the sweetness of the eyelet with the more masculine camo. I need to do that. I almost got that eyelet top but I had to stop myself. It is so dang cute. I love those sandals too. Wish I could wear them but I know better. If I had better feet they’re the only ones I’d wear – so versatile!
Glad you spoke with your babes yesterday, you’ll be seeing them in no time – eeek!! It’s just about wedding time sweet friend!!!

Well thank you sweet friend! I love the detail on this top, but it is cut a little weird under the arms. It might actually work well for someone who’s a little more busty…ahem. Hope your Monday is going well! XO
Biana Perez says
I don’t have camo anything in my closet, but I seriously love the look!! Equal parts edgy as it is feminine with the eyelet top!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

I love that…equal parts edgy and feminine. What a great description. XO

I don’t have any camo but only because it just doesn’t appeal to me. I like buying trendy pieces but camo is an easy one to say no to for me. I work in a law firm so the only time I could wear camo would be Fridays and weekends. I “try” to ask myself the question, “Will I reach for this?” and the answer is no. There are just other trends I like better.
Lisa Richardson says
It’s great to know what you like and don’t and not buy something just because it’s trendy. Good for you!! Happy Monday! XO
Laura says
You definitely need the N&S camo earrings, Lisa! You look so cute!
Lisa Richardson says
Oh my goodness, you are really enabling me. HA! I’ll get em’ if you do? (I’ll probably get them no matter what?) Hope you had a great Mother’s Day!!XO

Love me some camo! And in the fall I like to pair it with leopard shoes. I got a chandelier for my dining room for Mother’s Day! Do you have everything ready for the rehearsal dinner?
Lisa Richardson says
These pants are great, girl. You know how I love me some ON Rockstars. I like it with leopard too. A chandelier? That’s exciting! You’ll have to send me a pic. I’m a sucker for a new chandelier. I need to order and then write on place cards, but that’s about it. I leave a week from today. I can’t believe it’s almost here. What am I going to focus on when it’s over?. Happy Tuesday!!! XO

It took me a couple of years of blogging to finally give camo a chance and now I’m hooked. As you said, it really is a lot more versatile than it seems at first! Love how you made it more feminine with this pretty eyelet top! And love your new Mother’s Day necklace!

Lisa Richardson says
Thank you Gina. It took me quite a while to get brave enough to try it too. I love how it’s a little edgy and masculine, but like you said, you can give it a feminine vibe with the right counterparts. Happy Tuesday! XO

Love your blog. Found it from a link up through Cheryl’s site. I’m an east coast girl too (but still here on the east coast). Just started a blog myself. It’s quite overwhelming.

I do love to wear camo, it’s a classic casual pattern that looks good in almost any color you pair it with. Love the white top on you dear, so easy to wear.

Thank you Jessica! You are right, camo is so versatile color wise. Crazy isn’t it? Hope your weekend is wonderful! XO

Well, given my vintage it is no surprise that I don’t think I’ve ever worn camo, but what I like is your choice of crisp white broderie anglaise to up the dainty. Result, a fresh and current look, my lovely Lisa. Hope you’re having a great week, hugs x.
Lisa Richardson says
Hi Mary! Well you could most definitely do camo if you ever wanted to. You would wear it well. Thanks friend! XOXO

I was thinking just this year how Mother’s Day has changed as my kids have gotten a little older and aren’t babies or tots anymore. I remember having special clothes bought for them for just Mother’s Day, etc. And now… I don’t go all crazy about it anymore. In fact, this year we celebrated my son’s birthday with family and did Mother’s Day on the same day. It was so much easier to combine the two and we had family over, so it was nice to stay at home rather than going to some overcrowded restaurant. I have some camo pants I LOVE and I have been wearing them a little more lately. I love the idea of pairing a textured top with them! I need to do this… I don’t have an eyelet top, but maybe I’ll try a white lace top. I do love my peplum white top with them, I do that combo a lot (and it’s easy!). Oh, and back to Mother’s Day… a Kendra Scott necklace is the perfect gift IMHO! Even though they weren’t home, at least they know exactly what you love to receive! 🙂 And thank goodness for texting, etc.!

I think it’s a double edged sword that the older the older we get the more lax we get about certain things (like birthdays?) It’s great to be flexible but I hate to let things go. HA! My daughter knows me pretty well. She was the brains behind the gift. Good to have a daughter. Hope you are having a great weekend and enjoyed your treats yesterday! It’s funny that low carb days are easier for you. I hate them. I oh so love me some carbs. I’m doing low carb today and tomorrow for this week because it will be too hard once I start traveling Tuesday and get to Nashville with friends, family and food. XO

Love this look Lisa! I just tried the Rockstar 24/7 jeans this year and I love them! Soft, not binding and comfortable! I’ll keep them in mind if I decide on camo. They are a great change, a neutral. That eyelet top is so adorable! I just ordered one from Zara, as I wanted a few detailed white tops to wear throughtout the summer. Love those earrings too.. I have recently been on an earring binge myself!
thanks for linking!

I’m a HUGE fan of camo (and anything else in khaki for that matter!) and currently I’m on the look out for a great pair of camo or khaki combats but I’m struggling to find the right pair. I guess they’re just not ‘in fashion’ at the moment. But I will continue to search lol!
You look fabulous. I love that you teamed your camo pants with such a girlie top!

I regret not buying the camo pants at Loft a couple months ago. Love how you styled yours and I need to get on this trend ASAP. I also love Kendra Scott jewelry and own that same necklace in rose gold druzy. I love your earrings too and been meaning to buy some Nickel+Suede. =)
Lisa Richardson says
You definitely need some N&S earrings, Ada. They are wonderful. Check the camo pants out at Old Navy. I love mine. Happy weekend!
