It’s JULY!!!! Can you even believe it?! The girlies over at The Blended Blog have put together a vacation edition of their monthly prompts and that’s just great for me because in a little less than 3 weeks, I will be in my happy place at the beach. WOOHOO!!! I CAN.NOT.WAIT!
1. Will you go on a a summer vacation this year?
YES! We are going to Orange Beach, Alabama. We started going there several years ago and just love it. The sand is beautiful and white and the water is as close to Caribbean blue as you can get without being there. Orange Beach is on the Gulf of Mexico, so it’s the perfect place to vacation without having to pull out your passport.
2. Do nothing but relax or a pack it all in vacation?
We are all about relaxing {and eating} on vacation. I like to get up and exercise before hitting the pool (yes, I prefer to lay by the pool but be able to look at the ocean). We spend the day out in the sun, come in, clean up and head out to dinner usually followed by ice cream, shopping, mini-golf or a combo of all.
3. What month do you like to vacation?
I like to vacation in July whenever possible. I feel like it’s the best of everything. Summer is in full swing, but when you get home there’s still more summer to enjoy.
4. Cruise: YES or NO?
We’ve never cruised before. Kent loves the idea of food 24/7 and I’m terrified by that same thought. LOL
I’m not opposed to giving it a try though.
5. Favorite vacation tradition?
I think mini-golf is one thing we’ve always done on vacation and that makes it my favorite tradition.
6. Most memorable vacation?
Oh WOW! We’ve made so many vacation memories that it’s hard to say. For a non-beach memory, it would definitely be Disney when the kids were little.
7. Pack light or Pack it all?
I like to pack it all, but since we fly that means I have to have some restraint. I think the older I get, the less high maintenance I become. I know, I know, I can’t believe I just said that either. HA!
8. Hotel, Condo or House?
When the kids were younger we’d get a hotel efficiency with a small kitchen. We like to eat/graze during th day and then go out for dinner. Now we usually get a condo, especially since these days the kids have along a special friend. wink, wink.
9. Favorite thing(s) to eat on vacation?
Always seafood and of course no vacation is complete without all the ice cream and maybe a donut or two.
10. Warm or Cold Destinations.
Definitely warm. I am a warm weather girl through and through.
So tell me what your family likes to do on vacation. Do you like the beach like me or are you more of a mountain person? Do you prefer domestic travel or are you all about getting stamps in your passport?
I can’t leave you without sharing the Accessory Concierge 4th of July Sale. This is one of the few times they offer 40% off site wide. Some of my favorite, most worn pieces have come from AC. Check them out for yourself and order a few things to up your accessory game.

Orange Beach sounds amazing! You guys like to vacation like we do and I had a doughnut this morning and then a 4 mile walk, lol. Excited for you girlie!
Lisa Richardson says
Yes ma’am. We could be great vacation cohorts. Hope you are easing back into reality. XO
Erin Cauthen says
So exciting! We will be heading down there in a couple of weeks…such a great place!

I love the gulf beaches, the water is so smooth! Your vacation sounds perfect to me. I love laying by the pool but looking at the beach too – I’m not a fan of the sand so much. My girlfriend and I usually pull our chairs to the edge of the water and relax. There’s nothing like fresh seafood either and ice cream is always better at the beach!
Your countdown has begun my friend – I cannot wait to see this year’s pictures!
xo,
Kellyann

Sand is too much like dirt. LOL When we were in OK for Kent’s dads funeral and staying at our friends we were sharing memories from when the kids were little. Heidi and I are just the best of friends, but really so different. My kids didn’t even have “play clothes”. They were always dressed adorable (IMO). Hers ran around half naked, enjoying life. One time Benny was over there and they of course had a sand box (which I could never abide) She looked out and one of the boys was pouring a cup of sand right over Bennys’ head. She nearly died (laughing) because she knew I’d die. LOL. It’s funny now. HA!

Lisa!!! Give cruising a try! I’m biased, obviously, but I work in the cruise industry, and there’s seriously no vacation quite like it! And yes, food’s available 24/7…you just have to pace yourself haha pick what you realllllllly want 😉 happy July, gorgeous friend!
Lisa Richardson says
I didn’t realize you worked in the cruise industry. There is just so much to learn about blogging friends. You look like you are adjusting just so beautifully to your new community. So happy for you!!! XO
Katie Mitchell says
Cruising is great! I say give it a try!! The 24/7 food is the best!! LOL…I like your thoughts on a July vacation!! Enjoy Alabama!!

I’m intrigued to see pics of Orange Beach. And you and Kent look so cute together in that restaurant.

Oh, Orange Beach is great and we’ve been many times over the years when our kids were young. I think Seaside is a fabulous place too. I’m not much into sand but love to see and hear the ocean. You and yours have an enjoyable 4th!
Lisa Richardson says
We’d make for good pool buddies, Lea! Hope you’re having a great weekend!!! XO

I’ve been to Orange Beach! The gulf is actually a VERY popular vacation spot for us folks in St. Louis, because you can get down there in a day’s drive or two if you want to split it up if you have young kids. The seafood is so good down there, yum, yum!!

These questions are so fun! Whoever comes up with them does a great job. I’ve never been on a cruise either and I’m with you on the food thing. Everyone says you gain 10 lbs on a cruise and who wants that?! And btw, love your outfit with the orange top and white denim jacket. SO cute!

Thanks Gina!
Yes, the thought of the possible weight gain terrifies me and in those situations, I have no self control. HA! I love to eat!!!

I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone’s vacation posts! I wish I had time to get my post up in time! It’s been too crazy lately with house hunting though. Maybe next month! I love warm weather destinations too. That’s what you get for living in Wisconsin when it’s winter for half of the year! Haha!
Lisa Richardson says
I think you’ve had plenty on your plate. 😉 The baptism pictures were adorable. What a beautiful day!!! How did I not realize you lived in Wisconsin. Bless your heart. You may already know we lived in Minneapolis for 3 WINTERS. LOL XOXO

I went to Orange Beach a few years ago…have you ever been to the Flabama? It’s an institution. Happy summer!
