Happy Monday friends! How was your weekend? Ours was back to our normal routine of walking on Saturday and then I had a boat load of returns to make. #imaginethat The weather was gorgeous. Nice and warm, just the way I like it. There are fires a few hours from us and we are able to see a little of the smoke in the air even down here. Sadly, this feels like a pretty common occurrence in California.
Since it’s the first Monday in August (yes, I’m still trying to digest that), I’m joining the sweet ladies from The Blended Blog for their monthly round of questions. This month we’re talking PAR-TAYS!?
Favorite Birthday Party as a Child
My mom wasn’t a big fan of the birthday party…lol, but I do remember a couple. One in particular where we played a version of hot potato with a party toy that ticked like a bomb. ?For my 16th birthday she made me the cutest cake with a little pink telephone on it. #favoritebirthdaycake
Do you like to entertain? Yes or No?
That would be a squinchy yes. HA! When we lived in Virginia I entertained a lot, but with our moves that has become a less common occurrence. I think once we get back to the south near our children, family and friends, I will do a lot more again. I used to host the holidays and always loved doing that.
What kind of parties are your favorite?
I loved to have showers and the kids birthday parties. I say loved, because I think you get out of the habit and at the stage of life we are in, I just don’t have that desire right now. Our current home isn’t laid out as well for entertaining as our previous homes were either.
Big or Small parties?
Small to mediumish parties. I think being OCD with a dash of control freak thrown in makes entertaining more challenging. I need more of a controlled environment.
Favorite thing to do at parties?
EAT!
Party food favorites?
Oh man, I love me some party food!!! Give me all the dips and finger foods.
Hot and Bubbly Stuffed Mushrooms
I’m dying to try Carrie’s recipe for stuffed mushrooms.

Favorite Flavor of birthday cake?
All birthdays at our house involve some form of chocolate. I mean, is it really a birthday without it? Two of our favorites (that y’all know I have shared before are That’s Incredible Cake and Chocolate Trifle.
Balloons? Yes or No?
ALWAYS! Katie loved balloons so they were always present for all birthdays and celebrations.
Best Party Song?
Anything by Earth, Wind & Fire
Do you like to dance? Yes or No?
Once upon a time I did, but Kent isn’t a dancer and I think this could be a case of “if you don’t use it, you lose it”. HAHAHA!
So are you a party animal or more of a wall flower or somewhere in between like me?
Check out the link up over at The Blended Blog and join our party!
Hope your week gets off to a great start!

So many yummy looking recipes! Aww, a pink telephone cake sounds so cute. 🙂 I used to entertain a lot more and enjoyed all the parties for the boys when they were younger. This makes me want to make the effort again!

Absolutely not! No Birthday party or party in general is complete without chocolate! P. S. My mom wasn’t a fan of Birthday parties, either, but she always made sure I had a birthday cake! Chocolate of course!!

I was just talking about how my husband doesn’t dance, so now I pretty much don’t either. #partypooper I didn’t tell you that I got wrangled into planning my brother’s wedding in February. Ugh! Stay safe from those fires!
Lisa Richardson says
Oh my! Wedding planning. You will do a great job! The smoke was bad during the week (even though they’re pretty far away) but the air is clear today. YAY. Happy Saturday! XO

Oh fun answers! I think you would make a fabulous hostess so I can imagine some great parties were had when you lived back home and great parties will be had when you return. I’m with you and the party food – gimme all the dips and apps! I need to make that incredible chocolate cake – it looks so good!
xo,
Kellyann
