Remember back in the day when you actually talked on the phone connected to the wall in your house for hours? Okay, some of you youngin’s may not remember that, but that was a huge part of my teenage years. I can so vividly remember lying across my bed or sitting in my window seat talking on the phone to my friends and boyfriend for HOURS.
Here’s the progression of phones we had in my house growing up that I can remember
And for the record, YES, we still have a land line. Kent would love to get rid of it, but I actually hate talking on my cell phone. I always feel like you can’t hear and that I’m talking over the person on the other end.
That brings us to today and most of my people have one of these attached to their hand most of the time.
There are hundreds of Apps available for phones and I’m going to share my TOP 10, in no particular order.
CARTWHEEL
If you aren’t familiar with this app and you are a Target shopper you are leaving money in the store. It’s supper easy to use and the savings add up. I downloaded it when we were moving Benny in the dorm in August of 2013. Since then it’s saved me $496.64. The key is remembering to check and see what offers are available and/or scanning the items in your cart to see if savings are available. Once you get in the habit it comes second nature.
I’d be really surprised if most people don’t have this on their phones. It’s a great time filler when you sitting around waiting and also a great way to keep up with friends or run a “virtual business” like I do for my Rodan + Fields.
This is another one that I think a lot of people have and is perfect for sharing pictures with family and friends. It’s also another platform for business’s run virtually or in brick and mortar form.

LIFE360
This app is in my opinion a must have for parents of teens. We make it mandatory that our kids have it on their phones (as long as we are paying the bill?). It shows you their location. I tell my kids it’s a safety net and that’s how I really view it. When our kids lived at home and were first driving we had an agreement that they would let us know when they were coming and going from places. An app like this allows you to make sure they’ve gotten where they were going should they forget to notify you. Some people may feel it’s “stalkerish”, and that’s fine, but if you’ve ever lost someone to a car accident, particuarly a teen who didn’t show up where they were supposed to be, an app like this gives you an idea of where to start looking. It’s not a pleasant thought, but our family has lived this. (not with my kids, but my cousin)
MAP MY WALK
I love this app when I’m out walking because I’m usually trying to go a certain distance. It tracks how far you’ve gone and tells you at each mile. It also tells you your pace and if you happen to be competitive with yourself like I am then you’ll love this feature. The app also approximates the calories burned, but honestly I’m not so sure how accurate that feature is.
PICSTITCH
I use this app for making picture collages to share on social media. This one is really easy to whip out a collage to share on Facebook, Instagram or even a blog.
SHOPKICK
I introduced some of you to the Shopkick app in a previous post here. This is another app that’s easy to use and just a matter of remembering to check and see what stores have kicks available or scans to earn kicks.
You “open” the app when you walk into certain stores and then receive “kicks” (aka points). Once you accumulate enough points they can be redeemed for gift cards. You can also get points by scanning items in various stores. You should really check it out. I’ve already gotten a $25 gift card to TJ Maxx and I’m currently working towards a $250 Tory Burch gift card. That will make for an awesome SPLURGE!!!
I need 62,500 kicks and I currently have 30,329. It’s going to take a while, but I’ll get there. You can get kicks for inviting friends, so if you’re interested in trying it out please feel free to use my referral link and help me get there even faster.

SNAPCHAT
Snapchat would be at the top of the list if I was ranking them. I love it for keeping in touch with my kids. Katie and I “snap” everyday. It’s great! Benny’s even getting better about sending me occasional snaps. I also have several friends local and who live far away and it’s a wonderful way to stay connected with them.
You can friend me if you like. My name is AQUAMOM and I’m trying to get better at putting things on my story.
SAFEWAY
I think most grocery stores now have savings apps and they are a great way to see what’s on sale and stock up. The truth is that I only buy things 99% at Safeway that are on sale. You can save a lot of money just by checking weekly and stocking up on items you know you and your family will use.
I really doubt I need to tell you what this one is about. I love having it on my phone so I can see my pins when I’m out shopping, be it for groceries, fashion, or crafting ideas.
This is of course not all the apps I have, just my favorites. Do you have all of these apps on your phone? Do you have some I should check out? Please share in the comments. I’m always looking for things to make life easier.

I can't help but read a post when it's about someone's favorite apps. I'm always wondering if there is an awesome one out there I'm missing out on. That Life360 one looks interesting. My kids are 5 and 1 so not an issue…yet. I always forget about Shopkick. I'm more of an Ibotta and Checkout51 user. #TuesdayTalk

Ugh! I want Life360 for my kids but they don't have phones yet- I'd totally be okay with microchipping my children. In this day in age, you can never be too safe! Just got another Target gift card because of you teaching me about Shopkick! I love iBotta for grocery shopping – I'm up to $75 in rebates!

Oh, the good old days of talking for hours while the phone is stuck to the kitchen wall. 😉 I downloaded Life360 a while back but never finished hooking Gracie up. I need to finish that before she gets her license. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂 My sister uses it for her kids and loves it.

You definitely need to finish getting it set up before she's out in the car alone. I promise, it will help give you piece of mind. Happy Monday!!!
