Happy Valentine’s Day my people!!!
I wish I could give every single one of you an Oreo truffle❤️
Do you have big plans for your family tonight? A date night with your Valentine? We celebrated early, but I have a feeling Cupid might show up around here anyway?
I’m joining Andrea for Show and Tell Tuesday. I think it seems only fitting on Valentine’s Day that I’d take the opportunity to introduce you to my family. I mean after all, who do I love and adore more than these people?
#nobody
I’ve actually never done a post where I specifically talk about the loves of my life and since many of you may be relatively new around here this is the perfect excuse to talk about them.
These 3 people right here make my world a better place. They are my absolute greatest blessings.
So let me tell you a little about them individually.
KENT
This guy has been my Valentine for 27 years. That’s over half of my life. We met when I was home for the summer before my last senior year. (My mom says I squeezed 4 years into 5…lol)
This picture was about 6 months into our dating…just check out that 90’s hair my friends.
We’ve been through a lot in those 27 years and we are better together than separate. He’s the laid back one and I’m the high strung one. He’s the calm to my passion. The level head to my hot head. We truly balance each other and God knew just what he was doing when he matched us up.
So now let me tell you about our 2 greatest accomplishments.
These 2 cuties sure have grown up. I’m 1000% sure I’ll never see them in matching jammies again.
Insert all the sad faces.
BENNY
Benny will be 22 this year. He will graduate from college in May with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He’s one smart cookie and every single day I’m proud of the man he’s become. He’s funny, caring, quick witted and sarcastic all at the same time. He’s a real combo of me and his dad. When he was younger we just knew he’d be either a politician or an actor. He never met a stranger and was the life of the party. The older he’s gotten the more reserved he’s become. When he was little he definitely exhibited more of my loud, outgoing personality but as he’s matured he’s become more like Kent, a little more serious and very black and white. Engineering is the perfect field for him.
It’s always amazing to me how when you send kids off to college they come home all grown up. I’ve watched it with other peoples kids and now I’ve witnessed it first hand with ours.
KATIE
Katie is 19 and a freshman in college, leaving Kent and I as empty nesters. She has gone from the shyest little girl you’d ever meet to one of the most outgoing people you’ll ever know. She and Benny basically swapped personalities as they got older. Where Benny never met a stranger, Katie was nobody’s friend for the longest time. She stayed stuck to me like glue until sometime in middle school. She’s a real cut up now and much like her mama if there’s a crowd going somewhere you’ll find her right in the middle. Thankfully she’s much more disciplined about studying than I ever was. She’s smart as a whip and very dedicated to doing her very best which she’s going to need to do to get into PA school after college. Along with her sense of humor she’s also a master of sarcasm. (Are you getting the sense that perhaps our household is filled with sarcasm?) She’s a real nurturer, a beautiful friend and listener. She makes me proud to be her mom.
She’s not only beautiful on the outside, but the inside as well.
Before these 3 came into my life I was blessed with these 3 and I’m so incredibly lucky that I grew up in a house where I was close to my parents and my brother. My “baby” brother is only 13 1/2 months younger than I am, so I never knew life without him and boy am I ever glad he came along.
Of course I have so many more people I’d love to introduce you to, but that would be a much longer post. Here’s something you might be surprised to find out. I am one of 28 grandchildren on my mom’s side and I have 1 cousin on my dad’s sad. You don’t get much more opposite than that.
If you really want to see just what I’m dealing with these next 2 pictures should give you a pretty good idea.
So now you know who my people are. They’re pretty special and I love every minute I get to be with them.
Hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!!!

Your kids are gorgeous. My oldest boys are in high school now and I'm finding this stage more challenging than I'd have imagined. Oh the emotions! (mine, not theirs, ha) So glad to have found your blog. 🙂

Aw, thanks Jenny!!! You have a beautiful family as well! Katie and I are always amused when people comment that we look alike because we don't see it. Growing up everyone always said how much I looked like my mom and we felt the same way too. Thanks for the sweet words. Happy Valentine's Day!XOXO
