Now onto a recap of our last few days.
We usually eat our Thanksgiving meal late afternoon so that means we have a little nosh while things are cooking.
I think one of the things we always have for our Thanksgiving and Christmas meals that might be different from a others is dumplings. There are different kinds of dumplings. The noodle type and then the more fluffy, cloud type. The fluffier type are the ones my family loves. I am learning to make dumplings because they have always been my moms specialty. I doubt mine will ever take the place of hers, but every year I’m improving…or at least that’s what I’m told. Want to hear something funny? I don’t even eat them. I’ve never been a dumpling eater so I have to have the kids taste them and tell me if they are done or not.
(the turkey just looks pink in the pic…don’t worry, it was done)
We finished off the night with our Chocolate Ganache Pumpkin Pie I talked about here and playing Mexican Train Dominos.
I am forever thankful for the time we get to spend together as a family.
And I really didn’t want to send these 3 back on the plane on Friday morning.
Cassie had left the day before, so we’d already had one goodbye.
Yesterday I got all the beds put back together and ready for their return in 2 1/2 weeks. That made saying goodbye Friday morning a little easier, but Kent and I were both a little mopey the first half of the day until we got out and mixed in with all the Black Friday shoppers.
Now it’s time to get down to the business of transforming our house from fall to Christmas. It’s exciting and exhausting all at the same time.
Happy Monday friends!
Lisa
