Happy hump day my friends. Yesterday my week took an unexpected fun turn, and I got to enjoy keeping one of the young mama’s little girls from bible study so she could go have a baby sister. We had the best time. I said I was a “Mimi”in training. I have a while to wait if all goes according to plan, but I will be beside myself when I get the news a little one is coming into our family.
Okay, so now let’s talk about summer dreamin’. Who’s ready for some sun and sand? Yes, I’m holding my hand up and bouncing up and down emphatically. The beach is my absolute happy place. I keep telling Kent we might need to get a place at the beach when we retire. You just know if you have a beach home, the kids will vacation with you. #illdowhateverittakes
When the Gibson x hi Sugarplum line came out a few weeks ago, I grabbed a couple of things to try, and share with y’all.
How cute is this dress? I knew when I saw it I wanted to try it. Maxi’s have never really gone out of style, but I feel like they haven’t been quite as in the forefront the past few years. Having said that, I’m also feeling like this year they are trying to make a resurgence.
I ordered this darling palm print and the solid black. Both are super cute and comfy. The material is a crepe material and I’ll be honest with you, I prefer a cotton knit in a maxi. I think the crepe gives it a dressier feel and I wouldn’t really have a great opportunity to wear it. If I was going on a big vacation or cruise, this would be absolutely perfect and going with me.
I ordered a small in both of these and should have gone with an x-small. I had a hair clip on the back to draw it up where it was way too big in the top. I love the empire waist on this dress. It’s a cut that is very flattering and the back is kind of a modified racer back.
I threw on my denim jacket just for grins to see how it would look and it would totally work, but how cute would this light pink denim jacket be?
P.S. My earrings are from Bauble Bar and some I wore the most last summer. I always got compliments on them. Good news!!! I found an identical pair on Amazon AND they also come in a bunch of other fun options.
The last thing I ordered was this pair of “paper bag” pants. They are adorable and I loved them, but…I’m finally resigning myself to accept they aren’t in the cards for me. They are just wrong for my body type. I am extremely short waisted and these pants looks best styled with a shirt tucked in.
I’m 5’3″ tall and these are a petite small. They fit perfectly, were soooo comfortable and cute and I soooo wish they worked on me. So, if you are longer waisted and/or taller, get them!

Cute, cute dresses but I just never wear maxi length dresses. But, I have to tell you that I ordered that tiered tray off of Amazon after reading your post. I can hardly wait to get it and can’t believe I’ve been so late to the party. I’ll have to post about it once I get it.

How fun that you got to babysit this week! I also agree with your thoughts on maxi dresses. They’re kind of like leopard print this year. They never went out per se, but they’re back IN strong right now. Both the dresses you showed look fab and I do love those pants too! The maxi’s look gorgeous on you! I am concerned about the quality of the Gibson Hi Sugarplum collection. The reviews are not good on many of the items. I ordered several pieces from the summer line last year and was disappointed in the quality and the fit. What is your opinion of this new line?
