A long time ago I started making “ghost” cookies for my kids and Kent at Halloween.
They were a big hit so they pretty much became a tradition.
This year since we were going to be visiting them during the month of October I decided to make a double batch so they’d have enough to share. As I was making them I remembered seeing “mummy” cookies made the same way, so I did half mummies and half ghosts.

These cookies are so dag-on cute, but extremely easy at the same time.

Here is what you will need.
These are seriously so easy.
Break up the almond bark in pieces and put in a microwave safe bowl. You can do it on the stove top, but I prefer this method.
Begin melting 1 minute on high. Take out a see if you can stir and then return to the microwave checking about every 30 seconds until it is melted and stirable.
While the bark is in the microwave place a large sheet of wax paper out to place the dipped cookies on.
At this point you are going to likely need to restrain yourself from eating this by the spoonful.

I find a fork to be the easiest utensil to use. You can tap it on the side of the bowl to get the excess bark off or gently shake it back and forth which will give you a smoother coating. (that’s what I did)
Continue dipping until all the cookies are covered. Allow the “chocolate” to set up, which doesn’t take long.
Place black candy melts in a ziploc bag and microwave for 30 seconds. Check to see if they are melted and continue microwaving in 20 second increments until you are able to “mush” them together.
Cut a tiny corner off the plastic bag.
Pipe on eyes and mouth for ghosts and just eyes for mummies.
To make mummies, put melted bark in ziploc bag, cut off small corner and make a ribbon effect back and forth across the cookies. Once the bark is set up you can break off the overhang to clean up the sides.
Could these seriously be any cuter? And when you taste them you will fall in love. The mix of peanut butter cookies and almond bark is sheer heaven.
Here they are all packaged up and ready to travel to Nashville for the kids.
They all fit perfectly in this bag and Kent was in charge of escorting these little guys on the plane.
Here are some of Katie’s friends enjoying their spooky treats.
I’ve seen lots of variations of these on Pinterest. Check out my Cookie board here. You can make snowmen, Santa’s, referees, ice cream cones, ladybugs, reindeer or whatever you can think of.
Let me know if you try them and how your family likes them.
Happy Haunting!!!
