Well this week has flown by, and Sunday Katie and Luke leave, so needless to say, I wasn’t nearly as excited to see Friday roll around this week as last. Thankfully Kent and I will be going to Nashville at the end of April, so we won’t have to wait too long before we see them again. Today for Friday Favorites, I thought I’d do a review of my current favorite hair tools and products. My tools usually remain the same and a lot of my products too, but I do try new things from time to time and recently I’ve been investing in some pricier options.
Without really meaning to, I’ve slowly been switching out my hair tools to T3 products, or so it would seem. I just figured they were all equally good. Ehhh, not so fast little missy.
The first one I switched was my hair dryer. When you have as much hair as I do, you can burn through a hair dryer or flat iron faster than normal.
I was very intrigued with the T3 dryer and it seemed all the girls in blogland were switching over, so naturally I had to try it. I kept hearing how it would cut down on dry time and I have to agree, I believe it does. I had used a Revlon dryer (when it would wear out, I’d buy the exact same one to replace it) for 10+ years. I like a certain placement and style of power buttons and thankfully the T3 met those standards. HA! But, seriously, that’s been a deal breaker on other dryers. When I was writing this post I stumbled on a T3 online outlet. Who knew? My first place to look for T3 products is Costco though, so if you’re a member start there. The travel size is currently 50% off at several places.
VERDICT: Love it! Cuts down on dry time and that means less damage for my hair.
Next item up was my flat iron. Mine started to act funny and I knew it was on it’s last leg. I figured I loved my dryer, so why not go for the T3 straightener. Again, Costco came through. ??
VERDICT: Love it. Is it magical? I don’t know about that, but it does work very well.
Next up, curling irons.
Naturally I figured I was on a roll, so I’d better go ahead and try the T3 curling iron. I purchased (from Ulta…because #greatreturnpolicy) the convertible curling iron with the 1.5″ wand. Oh I had high hopes for this. I’ve been using Revlon curling irons for a sweet forever and just knew this was going to rock my world and curl my hair.
VERDICT: My curls didn’t stay any better with this curling iron than my under $25 Revlon counter parts. Epic fail. #wompwomp Can you say returned?!
Now for my most recent favorite tool. I’ve used something very similar in the past with great results, I mean I did after all grow up the daughter of a hair dresser, so we tried all the tools. It’s been years since using one and this brush dryer also by Revlon has burst on the scene and won the hearts of bloggers everywhere. Not kidding, seems we are all singing it’s praises.
After getting my T3 dryer I was able to use a round brush and the dryer to get a smooth finish on my hair without the extra step of a flat iron. (So why did I have a flat iron? I use it on days when I’m not starting out from step one of fresh washed hair)
Using a round brush and blow dryer together is time consuming for most, including me. The combo brush-dryer makes it sooo much easier and enables me to get more lift at the roots…hence the name volumizer hair dryer..
VERDICT: YES, YES, YES! I’m loving it. I still use my T3 to get my hair about 75% dry and then finish it with this. Totally awesome combo. A one-two punch, you might say
So currently I’m using these three products in this order. I won’t bore you with more details, but you can read about them here and here in another post I did on hair care.

I think I need them all. The only one I have is It’s a 10. You have done of the best hair I know so I look at you as a professional! Why have I never had a round brush? I will now, lol. Soak up these last couple days with your cuties! Love you! xo
Lisa Richardson says
Yes ma’am. If you just want a round brush the one I like is Revlon I think. When I go upstairs, I’ll send you a pic of it. I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond. I’ve had several and I like it the best. XOXO
Simply Styling says
Oh how I love love this post ! I have the T3 dryer and like you I love it. I’ve been wanting to purchase the curling iron and now I’m glad I haven’t. I tend to straighten my hair more so than curl it so I’m seeing myself purchase the flat iron. Thanks for sharing your opinions !
Lisa Richardson says
Happy to share Tammy! If you have a Costco, get it there. Less than $50 for the straightener. I think you’d like the brush dryer too. I don’t even have to touch up with my straightener when I use it. XO
Shelly @ The Queen in Between says
I’m definitely intrigued by the brush dryer. You really do have the greatest hair! I love the pureology I got at a party last month but only wish it also had heat protectant and I will have to grab this aqua product next time I need root lifter!
Lisa Richardson says
I bet it would work great for you…as long as it didn’t pull too hard on your extensions.
Chrissy Rowden says
Ok. I need to try that revlon tool!! My hair needs help…and extensions. lol. I hope you’re having the best time with your girl. Big hugs my friend!
Lisa Richardson says
YES, you’d love it. You don’t need extensions you silly girl. Your hair has a gorgeous amount of curl!
Kellyann says
If I had a quarter of your hair I’d be one happy lady!!! You have the best head of hair my friend!
Happy Friday!
xo,
Kellyann
Lisa Richardson says
I wish I could give you a quarter of my hair. LOL. XOXO

I’ve been using It’s a 10 since you recommended it months ago and I have to say it does make my hair a lot softer! I’ve been interested in that brush dryer for a while but unsure if it would help with my curly hair. For the price I think I just need to give it a shot before humidity sets in and nothing will work except letting my hair go natural! Haha!
Lisa Richardson says
I’m so glad the It’s a 10 is helping. I really love it. Get the dryer and try it. Buy it at Ulta and you can return it if you don’t like it. That’s where I bought the T3 curling iron, because I knew if it wasn’t all I hoped I could take it back. ???
Tanya @Other Side of the Road says
I agree about the T3 flat iron. I got it at Costco – like it, but don’t think it’s that much better than any others that I’ve had. But that Revlon dryer…it’s my new must have. I’m glad you’re getting to go to Nashville soon! Happy weekend!
Lisa Richardson says
That’s where I got mine too and my dryer. Yes, that Revlon dryer is great!!!! XO

Alrighty, I’ve never heard of T3, good to know. I think I might get the brush dryer. I usually let my hair dry about 70% on its own, anyway. If you saw my current blow dryer you’d give it a major eye roll. It works fine, but the safety part that covers the plug is missing and I get zapped once in awhile!
Lisa Richardson says
Well now that surprises me that you haven’t heard of them. You’d like the brush dryer…I think. The brush is oval shaped though, not round and I was surprised by that, but I love it. YIKES! No getting zapped!!!
Jodie's Touch of Style says
I have a T-3 brush only. I don’t use my dryer and iron much I guess…..I’ve had them forever. But I may get that brush…. anything to make life easier!
XOXO

The brush dryer would probably be great for you and you could dry your hair quickly. Score!

I was surprised when Cassie on Hi Sugarplum mentioned on her IG Stories how her T3 Curler was destroying her hair and she went back to her cheap Revlon curler. I was like YUP, yup. Mine wouldn’t hold a curl in my hair, but it would straighten it mostly. I’m so bummed my T3 curler is so sucky, I lost a lot of money on it. I have the Dyson dryer and LOOOVE it. I really want to try that Revlon Brush Dryer. I’ve NEVER tried or owned a brush dryer before, but they intrigue me. I saw that It’s a 10 product at Target the other day and I have seen several bloggers mention it. I need to add it to my to try list!!!

I didn’t see that story of Cassie’s, but I feel even better about my decision now. I’d love the Dyson dryer, but cha-ching. I buy my it’s a 10 at BB&B with a coupon? Happy weekend!

My hair needs all the help it can get! That Revlon brush dryer has been in my shopping cart for ages and I need to just check out! I’ve heard so many great things about it!

Lisa Richardson says
I really do like it Jill. It’s so much easier than fighting with a round brush and a dryer.
Mica says
It’s a shame that the curler didn’t work for you but great that the other products were better! We don’t have the T3 brand here I don’t think!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend 🙂 It’s a quiet one here as it’s still so hot, too hot for autumn!

Hope you get some cooler weather soon. I’m ready for it to warm up. Crazy, huh?! Happy Tuesday Mica!!! XO

I think my straightener is a T3! It worked amazingly well on my super thick, wavy hair, but I haven’t used it in like five years because my ex-bf told me he liked my waves, and I was like, “SWEET! That saves me a ton of time and aggravation!” and never looked back ahahaha. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, despite Katie not being around! xoxo
Lisa Richardson says
Your hair is so beautiful with your natural curl. I’d leave mine alone if it looked like yours. Thanks sweet girl. I love it when she comes home and hate it when she leaves, but that’s ok. One day we will hopefully live in the same town (and I’ll be lovin’ on a bunch of grandbabies?) XOXO

So nice to read about the curling tongs – I’ve been through about four in recent years – my hair drops with all of them! The only thing that works is straightners! Thanks for sharing on #chicandstylish Jacqui Mummabstylish

I enjoy reading about hair and what works for people! Sounds like you had mostly success, the hairdryer and straightener sound great. Too bad about the curler! I use Babybliss curling iron and it curls great. Cuting down on dry time is so important! I bought the same hairdryer as my stylist and love it as it does that. I also put my hair in a cloth turban, which dries my hair faster by air, so I dont need to use the dryer as long. Great review!
thanks for linking!
