Hey friends! Today is a great day for more reasons than one and that’s always good. My sweet friend Andrea of Living on Cloud Nine is having a birthday today, so why not hop over to her blog and wish her a big old Happy Birthday!!! Today is also our Ageless Style link up. The first Tuesday of every month ten over 40 bloggers present a different style theme and show a myriad of ways to wear it, all the while proving you can still be fashionable and on trend over 40 and beyond. This month our sweet Kellyann got to pick our theme, and she chose coral, the color of the year. Ahhh, such a beauty it is, and one of my long time favorites.
I’ve used coral in both my wardrobe and home decor several times. Back in the late 90’s I had a coral living room.
Maybe there was some foreshadowing in that picture, because Katie’s room in our current house is coral and navy. I guess my love for coral really has spanned the test of time.
One of my favorite outerwear pieces is this coral military jacket. I purchased it about 3 years ago from Gap and wore it a ton. I guess this year I’m going to need to call it back up to the front lines. (Don’t you love my military references?) A military jacket is a wardrobe staple and while they are typically olive, this coral one goes with so many things and is an unexpectedly fun piece and luckily I’ve been able to find several very similar options.
This outfit was easy to pull together. I grabbed my current favorite jeans by KUT from the Kloth. They have just the right amount of stretch. I’m wearing them in a petite, and you can see the length is perfect for me at 5’3″. They’re also on sale for 55% off. That’s a pretty good deal.
Since the pieces in this outfit are pretty plain, I added fun accessories in the form of one of my most worn necklaces and my snakeskin flats. I’m tellin’ y’all that these shoes are perfect for spring. I’m reaching for them repeatedly at times when I would have previously worn leopard. Not too worry, I haven’t cast my leopard ones aside, they’re just taking a little vacation. If you are interested in my tassel necklace, Accessory Concierge is offering free shipping and returns for the entire month of April. I probably wear this necklace more than any other in the spring and summer months.
Last but not least, let’s talk tees. Y’all know that I have the worst time finding tees that work with my short waistedness. I just got this one from JCrew and absolutely adore the eyelet details at the top. It’s cut fuller and shorter, but can still accommodate a little front tuck. The sleeves are too cute and will still work under a jacket with no problem. I also ordered the same tee in a really pale pink that’s super sweet.

Each month we ask a blogger to be a guest host and Kellyann asked Kim from Fierce Fashion to join this month. I’ve been reading Kim’s blog for a little while, and she’s super sweet and has the best eye for mixing color. She is always combining colors I wouldn’t have thought to mix, but just love the way they look. Stop by her blog and check her out.

I love that coral jacket and can’t believe you’ve had it for a few years, seems like they should be offering it this year since coral is so popular! I wear my tassel necklace a lot too – such good piece. Those jeans look great on you my friend and that eyelet tee is super sweet. I love details like that, I guess that’s the key to finding a decent tee when you’re short waisted like us!
Well, we’re not short on being funny are we? Love all of your military references, we crack ourselves up, don’t we?! Love ya!!

You sweet coral BABE! Thank you and I LOVE that you had a coral living room!! I had a “Chinese” inspired dining room I called it, that was a coral shade but it didn’t last long as Mr. nixed it after a bit, lol. BUT what will last a long time is that darling jacket. Great fit and the color is fabulous on you!! Styled ever so sweetly too! xo

This is a great jacket. I really like the way it’s cut and the way it fits you. I had a very similar one in a rain jacket style. The color is so springy and happy. P.S. I tried that exact shirt on in a different color thinking it would be perfect for our weather and it looked terrible on me, but looks as sweet as can be on you! Thanks for the kind words.

I am just LOVING this outfit, Lisa! That coral jacket is so adorable and I used to have a white top like yours, but I wore it so much that it lived its time. Those snakeskin shoes add a nice little extra fun pattern to the look! I love that coral living room!!!
