It’s official, she graduated!!!
I can hardly wrap my brain around the idea that we no longer have “school aged children”.
All of you parents of young children won’t be able to understand how fast it goes until you are sitting right where I am, asking yourself “how did we get here so quickly”?
I know I’m biased but she sure made a beautiful graduate!♥
It’s a tradition (at least where we are in CA) for the graduates to wear lei’s. This was new to us, but I really think it’s nice. They are so beautiful. One of Katie’s friends also made her a darling “candy lei” that she wore. A lot of kids had lei’s made from money which was really a cool idea and I wish I’d known about that. This was our first graduation ceremony since we moved here, so we are late to the party.
When Katie got up Thursday morning I had done a little decorating to surprise her.
I couldn’t help but laugh because somebody brought a beach ball to the ceremony and it started floating around.

So I had bought a really pretty new dress that I talked about here to wear to graduation assuming it would be warm, but it was in the high 50’s and windy so I made a last minute change and ended up wearing these cute new pants.

pants / similar lace top / shoes / similar sweater
This “cozy” sweater is one I have had for YEARS that some sweet friends in Richmond gave me when we lived there. (Thank you Tracey and Mary Ann♥)
You can do all sorts of fun things with it and tie it different ways for different looks. It was perfect not only to complete my outfit, but to keep me warm. I loved the black one so much I also have a tan one and they are great year round and especially for travel.
Would you believe we didn’t even cry???
Yep, we were real troopers.
I was pretty excited I got some good pictures during the whole thing.
And there you have it…the traditional tossing of the caps.

By the time we were through with graduation and all the picture taking it was 8:30 and Katie and I had to be back at school at 4:50 (AM) for her to get on a bus and head for Disneyland for Grad night so we didn’t do any big celebrating that night, but after she got back Saturday we went to a nice dinner at Ruth’s Chris. Let’s just say the kids REALLY enjoyed it. Kent and I did too, but it was their first time at a rather upscale restaurant and now they’ve had a taste of the good life. 😉
When I made our reservations I told them it was to celebrate Katie’s graduation and so they went out of their way to make her feel special!
similar jumpsuit / another jumpsuit option / denim jacket / sandals / necklace
I wore my black jumpsuit (purchased last year) to dinner which is super comfortable and of course took along my jean jacket.
My wooden tassel necklace has become one of favorite accessories from a Accessory Concierge (no affiliation) in Texas. I’ve collected several different necklaces that I talked about here. They have a lot of unique, cute, trendy pieces for a reasonable price and frequently run sales.

We so enjoyed having Benny home for a few days and being a family of four.
We took him back to the airport Sunday morning to return to Nashville, but we get to go ourselves on Wednesday so it wasn’t so sad to see him go.
As the weekend was winding down Kent and I decided to walk down to Starbucks and see Katie at work.
When she’s working and we go in it feels kind of like an episode of “Cheers” because everyone says “Hi Katie’s Mom and Dad”!
We figured as long as we were just goofing around we’d take a stroll through Target to look for a book for Kent to read on our trip.
No, we didn’t get either of these, but he’s such a goofball and we were cracking ourselves up!!!

Summer break is finally here and we are excited with a smidgen of dread because we know this will be the fasted summer of our lives, but we are going to make the most of it.
Thanks for stopping by and seeing what’s been going on out here on the left coast.
Happy Monday!!!!

Hehehe Uncle Kent cracks me up!! I love how goofy he is. By the way, Betty and Veronice Double Digest used to be my number one pick for at the register "please, mom, please". <3 #Bettyforthewin
