Hi friends! Welcome to this weeks Friday Favs in the form of what I wore in Austin. I’m going to share some more on our trip soon, but for now I thought I’d share what I wore and packed. I am unashamedly a self proclaimed “over-packer”. I’m a mood dresser, meaning I dress according to my mood. This is why I don’t think a capsule wardrobe would ever work for me. I like to have options when I travel, so I can wear what I “feel” like. This means my suitcase is almost always packed to the limit. On the way out to Austin it was 49.5 pounds, and on the return it was 50 pounds on the nose. I place my luggage on the scales and then hold my breath. HA!
Thank you Phoenix airport for the full length mirror. If you fly much, then you know they aren’t in a lot of airports. What’s a fashion blogger to do? When I’m flying there are a several criteria that have to be met. One is comfort, and the other is warmth. Airplanes are notoriously cold, even for us gals that provide our own personal heat waves. LOL I wore my Spanx faux leather leggings, a new long sleeve swing tee, and this poncho that my kids gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago. It’s Free People, and I love it just as much now as I did when I first got it.
Our first day out was our day trip to Waco. Oh what fun! I’d been dying to wear my new striped poncho from Loft and finally got the opportunity. You know how I feel about softness and this on is cozy as all get out. These booties. These booties have been some of the best money I’ve ever spent. You can walk in them a sweet forever and your feet will be fine and dandy. Katie borrowed them last year and then we ended up ordering a pair for her too. I think she wears hers as much as I do. #theyaregreat
The sun was so bright I was having to close my eyes and just open them for a split second. I already shared this striped sweater (here) and the top (here). They look like they were made to go together, and my new booties are spot on perfect with them. This day was the first time I’d taken them out for a test run, and I’m happy to report that I walked, and walked, and walked some more and they didn’t make me want to amputate my toes. #score
Sunday we spent most of the day just hanging out. It was wonderful! We went for a walk, so we were all dressed in our comfy clothes and then just left them on. I wore my wubby (which I just bought another since I wear it all winter.
Apparently I have a thing for ponchos. This is yet another new one that I wore for the first time. I had the same one last year in off white and loved it enough to buy another one. Unlike my sweet daughter, I don’t mind having multiples of something I like.
I basically wore the same outfit home on the plane as I’d worn on the flight out. I just wore a different sweater. This sweater is a cross between a sweater, a cardigan and a blanket. Perfect for just about anything. It’s on sale for 40% off, and comes in a beautiful rose color I’m smitten with.

I too am an over- packer and a mood dresser. I’m trying to get better at packing many things that at least coordinate with one another so I can pack a few less things but so far I’m not doing so good at that.
Jill says
I’m an over packer too because I always want to have options! Love all of your ponchos!

Cute travel outfits! Funny about the weight of your suitcase though! I always pack more on short trips than long trips probably because we typically don’t fly for those.

Wow, I am already tired of the jean frayed hem look. I liked it for about a second. Though I do prefer it over the senseless ripped jean look.
Leslie Clingan says
Never thought about it, but I bet I am a mood dresser, too. I hang clothes out to wear the next day and feel very excited about whatever I have selected that night. Then wake up in the morning and want to wear something entirely different!! Ha! I see a lot of gals who pack on a color scheme but I can’t do that either. The place I travel most is to Kentucky to see my mom. When I pick out clothes for my trip to see her, I try to pick lots of color and pieces I think she would like. So I crowd that weight limit a lot, too!!
Your outfits were easy, comfortable and stylish. Love both travel outfits. I know you gals had the best time. Can’t wait to read more.
Lisa Richardson says
I do the same thing, Leslie. It doesn’t really work for me to plan ahead. LOL
