Hi friends! Did you know Saturday was the first official day of fall? I wanted to share 3 ways I add fall to my home.
Do you change up your decor seasonally? I will add minor touches throughout the year, but the big change is for sure Christmas. Having said that, I do like to add a little fall in when the temperatures begin to dip. Here are 3 ways to easily add a little fall to your home.
Fall Scented Candles
My two favorite seasons for scented candles are fall and Christmas. I love the smell of pumpkin spice candles for fall. When we get towards Thanksgiving and Christmas, I switch to a Fresh Balsam scent. Candles come in a variety of vessels and they can pull double duty for smell and beauty…not to mention that beautiful warm glow.
Warm Colored Pillows
Pillows are another home accent that I like to switch up seasonally, especially in the spring, fall and Christmas. Adding the hues of rust, gold and pumpkin warm a space and make it inviting while giving the feel of fall. You can also add different textures like velvet and even linen to add visual interest. Of course there are also pillows with pumpkins and other themed objects that can add visual interest as well. To really go the extra mile consider adding all three. Texture, color and designs.
Fall Front Porch
Your front porch is the first impression your guests have before entering your home. This is one place I like to change up seasonally. I’m not one to go overboard and have things all over the place, but I do like to change out my door mat, wreaths and garden flags. If you have the space, adding lanterns and “props” can be a fun touch too. The good news is lanterns can be used year round with any decor theme. You can put a candle inside, or if you get a lantern with glass sides you can fill it with mini pumpkins, Christmas ornaments, hearts, Easter eggs, or whatever seasonal objects you like.
What’s your favorite season? Is that also your favorite season to decorate for? I actually swapped out my front porch decor yesterday. I need to get some pansies or mums for my big pot, but I picked up a pumpkin at Costco. If you’re a Costco member, ours had huge pumpkins for $5.99. They will go fast, so don’t wait.
I hope you found a little inspo in the 3 ways I add fall to my home post.
SHOP FALL DECOR HERE
The 4th of July is just around the corner and that means lots of cookouts and backyard BBQ’s. There are so many fun outdoor games for July 4th, and you can order them on Amazon to get them in time. These would be fun to have set up in stations around your yard, or some of them could easily be carried to a park if you’re gathering there.
I’ve seen several of these in use at the beach as well. Big kids/young adults and even older adults sometimes enjoy having something to do when spending an entire day on the beach.
GIANT WOODEN YARD DICE – You can play two games with these giant dice. Yardzee or Yardkle. HAHAHA!
YARD DARTS – Not only are these yard darts, they glow in the dark. Now personally, by the time it gets dark during the summer we’re already in our jammies, but if you like to walk on the wild side, these are for you. LOL
YARD CONNECT FOUR – Did you have Connect Four as a kid? I did, and I loved it. I think this would be fun, and even the littles could play.
BADMINTON – This looks like such an easy way to play Badminton. This game has been around forever. This net doesn’t require spikes, and I think that would keep it from sagging.
LADDER TOSS – We bought one of these years ago for Katie’s graduation party. I had played it somewhere and it was a lot of fun. We will be pulling this out the next time we have a gathering.
HORSESHOES – I haven’t played horseshoes in years, but I used to love it. Most kids these days have probably never heard of it. Let’s bring it back.
BOCCE BALL – The only time I’ve played this was at an Italian restaurant, but it was a lot of fun.
GIANT JENGA – Not gonna’ lie, this one scares me a little. We went to a party with a reallly giant one, and I was terrified it would fall on someone. I think this one is a slightly smaller scale, so probably a lot safer.
CORN HOLE – This is a crowd pleaser, and I see a lot of people who take them (in a wagon) out on the beach to play. Little kids love playing with the bean bags for this one.
Check out this post with red, white and blue looks to go with your new outdoor games for July 4th.
Or this post has more red, white and blue all American summer style that would be fantastic for the 4th.
